I didn't believe in Santa Claus until
on Christmas Eve. 1 went to get a
snack. When' 1 heard a noise in the
chimney. 1 went into the living
room and looked up the chimney.
There in it was Santa Claus. But...
he was stuck! 1 was about to call
my parents when Santa yelled
"Who's down there?" Then 1 ex-
claimed "It's me, Rachael Wood".
Then Santa asked, "Can you help
me get down? l'm stuck."
1 didn't know what to do sudden-
ly I heard footsteps on the rooftop.
I went outside and looked on the
roof. I couldn't believe my eyes!
Right there on the rooftop were
eight tiny reindeer. 1 went back into
the chimney. I got a pot of steam-
ing hot water and put it into the
chimney.
When Santa Claus touched the
water boy did he ever scream. In
fact the water was so hot that he
shot right out of the chimney and
landed right in his sleigh. Then he
rode off to another house pretend-
ing nothing had happened at all.
Christmas Time

We get up and dart to the living -
room, tear open our gifts and who
knows what they'll be! The deafen-
ing racket well make will prob-
ably wake up our parents. Who
knows, they could be happy or as
mad as a hatter. But who cares,
they should be glad because its
boring when they're not. We'll
make our gifts do what they're
made to do. We'll turn on the tree
lights and watch TV or get inter-
ested in our presents, whatever
they are. Don't forget the stock-
ings! 1 hope they're full! What tiny
trinkets do they hold?

The United Way received $1,136 from a fundraiser held at
Valu - Mart recently. A $1-a spin crown and anchor wheel
raised the money with all prizes donated by Seip's Valu Marc.

Back in 1864, when Santa was
supposed to come to the children,
he had gotten very ill from food
poisoning. So Santa couldn't go
give people presents. "But you
don't know how to fly the sled,"
said Santa. "But. you can teach us
how," they said. "No. 1 am too ill to
even get up. Perhaps there will be
no Christmas at all," said Santa.
"Please Santa, just give us one
chance," said the elves.
"Okay, Go out side and practise
flying the sleigh," Santa said. "Bur.
Santa, the reindeer won't listen to
us." Santa said. But the elves didn't
give up. After Santa had gone to
bed, the elves would go and try to
get the reindeer to listento us", the
eives said. "Sec, I told you that
there will be no Christmas," Santa
said. But the reindeer still wouldn't.
But one night, on Christmas Eve,
the elves surprised Santa by giving
the presents out and flying the sled.
The Special Gift

One day a girl named Sally was up
in her room trying to think of a gift
for her mother. But she had only
2.50 and that wouldn't buy a great
gift. The next day Sally was walk-
ing in front of the .stores in town
she passed a store with a beautiful
dress for 5.00 whole dollars.
Where was she going to get 2.50.
Then an idea struck her! She
would sell Christmas cookies! So
the very next day Sally woke up
bright and early. She went down
and started cooking. By 10:30 Sal-
ly made 30 Christmas cookies. She
loaded the cookies on her wagon
and took off! By 11:45 Sally sold
all her cookies -then she -ran all -the
way to the store and bought her
. mom the dress. On Christmas day
when .Sally's mom woke ,up she
opened Sally's present she jumped
up and hugged Sally and said "Sal-
ly this is the most special gift in
the world."
On Christmas morning Santa
said, "Where are all the toys?" "We
wanted to surprise you," the elves
said. "Well, you sure did," and
Christmas went on forever.
