EXETER - After 12 games, it ap-
pears as though the Exeter Mo-
hawks are beginning to put it all to-
gether.
Sunday night they dressed 17
skaters, the most this season and
came up with a big 12-4 win over
the visiting Ingersoll B's.
The win has the Mohawks sitting
comfortably in second place with
20 points, three ahead of the Aylm-
er Hornets. Last Tuesday in Aylm-
er, the Mohawks had only nine
skaters and won 6-2.
This Sunday, the locals will face
their toughest test when Petrolia
comes to the South Huron Recrea-
tion Centre for a 7:30 p.m. start. In
the only other meeting of these two
teams, Petrolia won 12-1.
Petrolia is dominating the South-
western Senior 'A' League with a

Mohawks are now at 10-2.
"It's going to be a good year with
them (Petrolia). You can look to
see us right up there," said Mo-
hawks' forward Greg Snyder who
scored one goal and set up five oth-
ers on Sundae.
Snyder set up big Scott Pfaff

of players.
When asked for some tips on
passing, Snyder said, "always keep

He was satisfied with the effort
of both Cornish and Lewis.
"They held their own. 1 played
them together to see what they did
and than I mixed them up."
Rick Pikul started in net for the
Mohawks, playing two periods be-

As far as the two hockey brawls go, as much as I hate to say
it, in both cases they have been necessary.
Wednesday night in Lucan, I saw the most vicious attack on
a goalie I have ever seen.
Brent Lewis was hit hard by Alvinston's Jim Cloud. Earlier
Lewis jumped another player and in my opinion should have
been ejected hut was not.
What that does obviously is get the Alvinston players verb
upset and they take a shot at Lewis. But come on guys, don't
make it so obvious.
Sending a guy out on the ice who has had only two shifts all
night, having him start at the bluelinc and skate as hard as he
can to deliberately injure someone is crazy.
Although you can only blame Cloud partially for this, you
have to point a big finger at the Flyers' coaching staff and
wonder why they were not suspended.
Friday night in Exeter, the Hawks were having their usual
so-so game when Jamie Comish scored. The Seaforth goalie
got mad after Comish gave him a little bump and the next
thing you know we've got all 12 players on the ice beating up
on each other.
Seaforth's Shawn Teahen was given a game misconduct for
leaving the bench and their coach was also penalized.
That's the best call I've seen referee Paul Petrie make in
three years.
Looking back at the two brawls you have to ask the ques-
tion were they necessary???
Well, in the case in Lucan, I have to say yes. The golden
rule is that if anyone hurts your goalie, it's your job to get him
back. Alvinston was way out of line and their actions should
be punished by the OHA.
1 asked Lucan coach Ken Needham why he didn't have his
players later run their goalie and he just said that the Irish are
not the kind of organization that does something like that.
Good answer.
I question however the necessity of the fight in Exeter. Sure
it definitely pumped the locals up. So much that they scored
five straight goalts to win the game in dramatic fashion.
Did Cornish have to bump the goalie? He's a veteran player
and if that's what it takes to get your team going, maybe it
works. There is no way Cornish knew there would be a huge
fight and players ejected.
As for senior hockey, you have to wonder why people are
staying away.
To tell you the truth its because there is no magic. By magic
I mean the close one -goal games, the hard hits and the great
• goaltending.
1 go to the games because I am a fan of the organization and
because it's my job. Striking the latter for my reasoning, the
Mohawks and senior hockey are having problems and need
everyone's support right now.
Did you sec the Domi-Prober fight?
These guys have to be made out of concrete or something.
Ask anyone who has been in a hockey fight and they'll tell
you going toe -to -toe is exhausting. Getting your amts up with
ali.that equipment_on, keeping your balance and trying to con-
nect with the odd punch is hard to do.
Domi taunted Probers for quite a while just because he's a
loud mouth. But I guess when you have no hockey skills what
so ever and should be in a ring inside of a rink, lighting is
about all you can do.
At Least Probert has proven in the past he can score goals
How many notches does Domi have on his goal scoring post''
And yes Eric...real stars behave themselves off the ice.
