O'Rourke's family is moving to New Zealand before the new year, but she intends on joining the guide program there upon her arrival. Here she is surrounded by fellow guides Carly Riley, K.J. Win- ners as follows: high lady score - Winnie Eagleson, Parkhill, low lady. score Katherine Becker, Dashwood, gents high score, Joe Miller, gents low score, Ben Kaak, ladies most lone hands - Ina Neeb, Zurich, gents most lone haps won by Gwen McKellar, Zurich, playing man's card. The next euchre at Shipka will be January 6 after the holidays. Personals A number of ladies from this area andt reenway, attended the Christ -i mss Ecumenical, held this year at Church of God, in Grand Bend. Oth- er churches pasticipatlttg in the pro- gram wore the Immaculate Howl of Mary Catholic church, Dashwood United, St. John's by the Lake An- glicans, Greenway and Grand Bend United. Guest speaker was Evelyn Krueger, a former resident of this area, from Owen Sound. Ken and Marg Baker, accompa- nied by Jake and Bbis•Roder, of Bayfield, and Mae Schilbe, of ThaMeariWNIVe re- turned from a week's holidays in Las Vegas. They enjoyed a bus trip to Hoover Dam and a scenic air flight over the Grand Canyon. Don and Ann Russell and daugh- Zurich Senior Diners By Gertie Fleischauer ZURICH - Fifty Senior Diners met Wednesday at the community centre. Tammy Antaya welcomed all diners, especially first time diners. She also informed the diners of up- coming events. Kay Hay read a poem "Another Sweet December". Progressive euchre followed: High - Howard Finkbeiner, Second high - Dolly Jeffrey; Lone Hands - Annie Finkbeiner; Low - Harvey Hohner. Kirkton Horticultural Society elect officers . KIRKTON - The Kirkton Horti- cultural Society held its annual meeting at the K -W Community Centre on November 30, serving a large crowd with a delicious pot- luck dinner at 12 noon. President Madeline Parkinson welcomed everyone and opened the program with a poem "The Legend of the Poinsettia". Door prizes for lovely poinsettias were drawn. Doris Elford led carol singing with Orrie Hartwick at the piano. District 10 president Margaret Pike of Stratford was present and brought greetings and news from the Ontario Horticultural Society and the convention. The district an- nual meeting is to be held in April. Pike judged the Mini Christmas Show, and the winners were Jean Ratcliffe, Josie Ryckman, Lynda Hodgins, and Mary Szabo. She also conducted the election of officers for 1993 which arc as follows: President Marjorie Johns, presi- dent Madeline Parkinson, first vice president Jean Ratcliffe, -.second vice president Gretchen Hazle- wood, secretary -treasurer Jean Copeland, assistant -secretary Joyce Strahan and directors, Marjorie Att- hill, Josie Ryckman, Lynda Hod- gins, Beulah MacDoiugald, Ger- trude Willis, Marilyn Robinson, Jean Lynn, Mary Tufts, Evelyn Wiles and Doris Efford. Nine asso- ciate directors were also elected. Anna Peterson as vice-president of the District spoke about the Mas- ter Gardener program. Gretchen Hazlewood showed slides of her trip to Europe last summer. Her pictures were of the 1 beautiful gardens at the Floriade in Amsterdam. Attending were Cliff and Velma Russell, of Dashwood, Bruce and Judy Russell and Doug and Ann Russell and their families of this area, Kathy and Rick Plaine and daughters of Strathroy, and Tom and Rosanne Russell and family of Cottam. Annie and Angie Zielman, hosted a Jsnzen family Christmas gather- ing, Sunday, at their home, when about 45 gathered from areas of Leamington, Windsor, Essex, Lon- don, Kitchener, Exeter, Dashwood and Zurich. These relatives were Annie's brother and sisters and their families, as well as her own family. Christm'�1nner held for Mt. Carmel CWL MT. CARMEL - There was an excellent turnout for the smorgas- bord supper held at Crediton restau- rant. After supper Carol Steckle showed how to make a Christmas arrangement. Mary Regier won the arrangement. Santa arrived bring- ing Christmas wishes. Santa passed out the gift exchange. The card parties will be held again in the meeting room. The first card party will be Sunday, Jan- uary 10, 7:30 p.m. Christmas bas- kets will be given out to shut ins this year. A thank you was received from the cancer society thanking the CWL for the generous dona- tions sent to them. There will be a box at the back of the church for the Christmas bu- reau, donations of groceries, non - perishables would be appreciated. The CWL have been asked to en- tertain the seniors at the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich for the month of January. Arrangements for the bus trip are being done. Ten league members attended the Right to Life supper in Stratford.
