Christmas is
in the air at
Queensway
HENSALL - This has been a
busy week and Christmas is cer-
tainly in the air. Last Tuesday the
Grand Cove Singers sang the after-
noon away following a church ser-
vice performed by Reverend Ga-
skin. Tuesday evening the
Christian Reformed singers visited
to put on a Christmas Carol pro-
gram. Everyone enjoyed singing
carols along with the entertainers.
On Thursday afternoon movie-
goers watched "The Bells of St.
Mary's", with Bing Crosby and In-
grid Bergman.
Without question the highlight
of the week was the Christmas
Open House on Sunday afternoon.
Fortunately the weather co-
operated on Sunday, so friends and
relatives were able to visit Queens-
way and enjoy an afternoon of
family fun and fellowship. Every-
one enjoyed hors -d'oeuvres, sweet
treats, punch, coffee and tea with
all the residents and staff. If was a
great success thanks to the Ladies'
Auxiliary who helped set up, serve
at the buffet tables and greet visi-
tors at the door.
After all of Sunday's excitement,
the baking club met and prepared a
pineapple upside down cake. Eve-
ryone pitched in to help make it
and then they enjoyed the finished
product with afternoon tea.

Capsule Comments
with Ernie Miatello
We see a lot of imitation seafood around ...
especially crab. It is actually made form the
Alaskan pollock, a deep sea whitefish. 1t
contains, on average, 75% less cholesterol than the the real thing, but
still contains the high quality protein we expect from seafood.
To keep warm when going.out in very cold weather, avoid drinking alco-
hol and smoking cigarettes. Alcohol dilates blood vessels, causing heat
loss and smoking slows down circulation through hands, feet and legs.

Nitrates and nitrites are chemicals used to cure meats and give them
that characteristic taste and colour. Frying these meats can convert
these chemicals to 'nitrosamines' which are potentially cancer-
causing. Microwaving these meats is best... it produces less nitrosa-
mines.
Here's a better way to swallow a capsule: Swallow a sip of water; put
citapsule in mouth, take another sip of water, bend forward and swallow.
