November is busy
at Precious Blood
EXETER - November has been a very busy
month for both teachers and parents. On Novem-

ber 2 they had a second book fair of the year,
from Monday to Thursday that week. Over
5800 worth of books were purchased and the
library kept 45 percent of the sales in free
books.

On November 5, the girls' volleyball
team played their second game in Si.
Boniface. The girls and boys volleyball
teams both have been practising very
hard and have several games scheduled this month.
There was also a mass at 9:15 the grade 7/8 class prepared the mass.
They made banners, they also chose the readings and songs on the
theme of peace and decorated the altar.
On November 5, there was a P.1.A. meeting. Before the meeting par-
ents got to look at the book fair
On November 6, grades 2, 3 and 4 travelled to Longwood's Conser-
vation area, looking at Indian long houses, and visiting the look out
tower river. They dressed up as Indians and played Indian games. The
instructor showed them how w build a fire and their lunch was eaten in
a long cabin. later, the Indian Chief came and visited them after they
made tools out of stones, sucks and leather straps.
On November 1 t, the school held a Remembrance Day ceremony
with songs and poems to show respect to those who died for us.
On November 12., Mary Walker carte to our schout to speak to
grades 2, 3 and 4 about the Native People of Canada and about how
ult. live today. She showed slides to the. classes in order to help them
understand that everyone's rile is not use sante.
Thursday they started their Advent Celebration. The school gathered
in the hall to say a prayer, sing a song and light the candles on the Ad-
vent wreath to prepare for the coming of Jesus.
1 uesday the first terns repot cards were sent home.
Plans are now being made for the Christmas concert.
Annual Christmas dinner
held at Blue Water
ZURICH - There was no mistle-
toe or holly, L,.: everyone was
friendly and jolly at Blue Water
Rest Home on Sunday afternoon.
The dietary staff, under the direc-
tion of Kathy Steckle, succeeded tit
filling 300 family and friends of
the residents to the brim at the an-
nual Chrisunas dinner.
To help the digestion and the
short waiting period to be wined
and dined, the visitors and resi-
dents listened w Krista Keller on
the piano, Grace Martin on the or-
gan and Mary Lou Erb on piano
with a fine selection of Christmas
music and Laurie Erb, with her
daughter Ashley as soloist and ac-
companist.
Doug Stephens brightened up thc
evening with his ability on the pia-
no, accordion. mouth organ and
Nelson Howe joined in with nis
fiddle.
Tuesday evening the Crediton hi-
sutute provided a birthday.party tor
the residents under thc leadership
of Margaret McClure and Lois
Hodgins as spokesperson. Glenn
Hodgins on the guitar and Lois
Hodgins on the fiddle played sever-
al duet selections. Alma Davey
played the piano and Amy Shapton
step danced
Thursday evening the residents
enjoyed a video of Victor Borg -
nine.
Friday the . residents were in -

volved in Bible reading and metal
aerobics . and bingo in the after-
noon. Other activities during the
week were sing song, fun and fit-
ness, newspaper reading and games
on Wednesday evening.
Rev. Larry Stojkovic, Zion Lu-
theran Church, Dashwood was in
-charge of Thursday afternoon chap-
el service. Father Peter Hayes, St.
Boniface church, Zurich celebrated
mass.
Condolences are offered to the
. family of the late Clarence Reith
,who passed away at South Huron
°!District Hospital last Sunday. Rcith
Utas lived in the aparunents at Blue
Water Rest Home for several years
and was a very community active
resident of Seaforth.
