Kirkton Guiding on the rise
KTRKTON - On Thursday evening November 19 at
the Kirkton Community Centre, there was quite a hap-
py and excited crowd. The Kirkton Guiding units held
their annual Parent/Daughter pot luck supper in which
about 100 people took part
This banquet preceded this year's enrolment. It was
especially impressive in that all the girls got enrolled
the same night.
Brownie leaders Wendy Nethercou and Ruth Robin-
son brought 10 tweenies up through the magic mirror
to become Brownies.
Guide leaders Karen Mortimer, Edith Biggs and Deb
Pihl helped tenderfoots through the guide laws to be-
come Girl Guides. -
Pathfinder Leaders Carole Damen and Kathy Holds-
worth inspired three girls down the pathways to be-
come Pathfinders. Ranger leader Sue Robinson encour-
aged four young ladies into the wider world of
Rangers. In total 32 girls joined the ranks of the Guid-
ing program in Kirkton. The units already are home to
25 girls who arc enjoying the challenges brought to
them by their leaders.
To top the evening off two girls, Michelle McRobert
and Rosemary Damen, received their Canada Cord.
This is the highest award available in the Pathfinder
program.
