It's hard to believe only four days separates these two photographs of the Ausable River
as it passes through Exeter. The top photo was taken Friday when the surf was lip on
the river, or at the least making it look viable for some white water rafting. Heavy rains
Thursday quickly swelled the river over its banks. The bottom photo depicts the more se-
rene and peaceful attitude the river displayed to the photographer Tuesday morning.

Robina Alexander of Listowel,
the president of Stratford -Huron
Presbyterial, introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Margaret Vanderz-
wecrde. Mrs. Vanderzweerde was
born in Holland q'nd carne to Cana-
da with her parents at a very early
age. She received her education here
but her desire to become a nurse
was thwarted when she suffered a
slight heart attack during training.
She subsequently married and she
and her husband became the parents
of six. After the death of her hus-
band in 1968 and a very serious op-
eration in 1969, she became an ac-
countant. Following her remarriage,
she lost her house in a fire. In 1988,
she felt a definite mandate to enter
the diaconal ministry and -entered
Ewart College. Upon her graduation
from Ewart, she and her husband
went to India at the request of the -
Presbyterian Church in Canada. In
India, Margaret and her husband
saw poverty, sickness, starvation
and death, but on the former mission
fields conditions were somewhat
better. However, the Helen Mac-
Donald Memorial School and the
Jobat Hospital buildings are old and
in need of repairs. She urged
W.M.S. members to give money
over their W.M.S. objective and
Presbyterian Sharing objective to
small projects in India Small
amounts go along way in India and
the materials are available there.
These moneys should be sent to 50
Wynford Dr. and designated for
the Helen MacDonald .Memorial
School or the Jobat Hospital, (Mrs.
Vanderzweerde was clad in a beau-
tiful yellow sari and wore beaded
sandals and anklet bracelets. •
The offering that evening is
to be divided with half going to
the General Fund and the rest to-
ward a special project for India.
The annual meeting of Stratford -
Huron Presbyterial will be held on
Tuesday, February 23, in Knox
Church Stratford.
The rally closed with the Mizpah
Benediction repeated in unison.
