From !eft are Lions members Laverne Hamilton, Glen Kells, and Paul Anstett who are presenting the cheque to Janet Miller, also the guest speaker at the Lions dinner meeting. The funds, which are the last from the club's celebrity dinner, wil! be used for programs and services for physically disabled children. T(rnes-Advocate, Novernber 18, 1992 Page Meefl,gl Sahbury women SAMTSBURY - St. Patrick's ACW held their November meet- ing at the home of Hazel Eaton with 11 members present. Mary Davis, Mabel Needham and Heath- er MacOiltivray were program leaders. Members prayer was said in unison. A prayer remembering absent members, Sunday School, church and her work and for those who fought and for those who lost their lives for our country was led by MacGillivray. Mabel Needham read the scrip- ture readings Zechariah 7:1-10, Psalm 9:11-28 and Luke 20:27-38. MacGillivray led in the meditation "Without Justice there is no Peace". Poems were read by Mary Davis "A Soldier Proud" and end- ing with In Flanders Fields. The business followed, Decem- ber meeting at the home of Hazel Davis, December 8 at 8 p.m. St. Patrick's Sunday School party on Sunday December 13, invitations were read for area bazaars. Mary Davis had a Bible quiz, won by Cheryl Carroll. Eaton was thanked and MacGillivray led in the "Inter- national Peace Prayer" followed Church service held at Thames Road by A Nightime Prayer. Church service THAMES ROAD - Rev. Jim Allsop conducted the regular church service on Sunday morning with a fair crowd in attendance. Psalm 87 was read responsibly The choir sang "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" accompanied by the organist Erin Kraftcheck. The congregation sang the chil- dren's hymn "Put Your Hand In the Hand" and Rev. Allsop told the children's story "Being Thankful." Rev. Allsop read the Scripture lesson Luke 21: 5-19 and Matlachi 3: 13-4:6 and the topic of his ser- mon was "The Hope of Good News in Tough Tunes... Sympathy is extended to husband Rev. Stewart Miner and family. Some 100 people attended the in- formation meeting concerning the future of the churches in our com- munity on Monday evening. We were divided into six groups dis- cussed different problems and then came back into one group, each bridging different points for discus- sion. People were present from Cen- tralia, Crediton, Elimville, Exeter, Kirkton, Staffa, Thames Road, Woodham and Zion. Bill and Rhoda Rohde were Sun- day supper guests with Glenn, Mari- lyn, Dan and Tammy Rohde. The occasion being Dan's 21st birthday.
