a shot past the Leacock keeper, but
the ball cracked off the post and
stayed out.
Meanwhile, Rich' stoned the first
Leacock shooter with a terrific
glove save. She then went through
a ritual trying to psyche out her op-
ponents, pacing the net and making
them wait to shoot. It paid off as
the second Leacock shooter missed
the net. Richt stopped the next
three shots easily and then had to
save herself as ecstatic teammates
piled on top of her.
"She played it smart," said
Workman of Rich'. "It was a very
satisfying victory after losing to
them earlier."
South Huron 3,
Hamilton Glendale 0
In quarter -final action Friday,
South Huron had little trouble
handily defeating Hamilton Glen-
dale by a 3-0 score. The Panthers
were on top of their game through-
out, and advanced to the semi's on
goals by Sims, Miners and Taylor.
First in pool play
South Huron was unbeatable in
pool play finishing alone in first
place.
"We really didn't know if we
would even get out of our pool this
year," said Workman. "The teams
were really unknown to us."
Friday morning against M.M.
Robinson of Hamilton, the locals
jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on a
pair of goals by Miners. South Hu-
ron gave up a goal midway through
the second half, but were in control
and didn't appear to be in any dan-
ger.
On Thursday, Kristy Ahrens had
two goals in Game Two as the Pan-
thers defeated Toronto's Senator
O'Connor 2-0.
Earlier that morning the Panthers
took the lead against Parry Sound
on a goal by Miners, but surren-
dered a goal on a penalty stroke
with two minutes remaining. After
giving up a breakaway which re-
sulted in a short corner, the locals
had trouble clearing the ball which
led to the flick. Thc crew had to
settle for a tic, their only blemish in
the tourney.
