Answer: Nothing unless you're buying new carpeting and have a genuine concern about the environment. At least that's what Dinney Furniture is banking on as they have become the first carpet dealers in the area to offer durable, good look- ing carpet made from plastic soft drink bottles. Daryll Keller, who works in the Carpet department at Din- neys is expecting many people will show a lot of interest in the carpet which is manufactured in Georgia from pop bottles col- lected in Ontario and Quebec. Keller said the commercial qual- ity of carpet is 100% recycled bottles and the residential quali- ty is 80% recycled bottles and 20% nylon. Bill Dinney said the staff at the store have been committed to the environment for years, to the three R's - reducing, reusing and recycling. "We were ex- tremely interested when we found you could offer a high quality carpet and be instru- mental in reducing pollution at the same time," Dinney added. Dinney says he challenges anyone to notice any difference between the Enviro-Tech car- pets which are made from recy- cled products than any regular broadloom. "When you add up the choice of colors, the high quality and the competitive price, 1 think we have a product that will be popular with the public," Dinney added. The car- pet comes with a five-year stain warranty, 5 year no crush/no mat warranty and a ten-year wear warranty. A wide range of samples are available in the store. Jo -Ann Seller, another carpet department employee said she sees one more benefit to buying this type of carpet. "When it does eventually wear out, the manufacturer will take it back for recycling instead of having it to take up space in the landfill site," she said.
