Jim All- sop was in charge of the All Saints Day Church Service on Sunday morning. Thee was a real good crowd in attendance. At Elimville United Church, Colney Daniel, son of Dan and Mary Smith was bap- tized. At Thames Road United Church the following' boys were -baptized by Rev. Jim Allsop: Garret Ed- ward, son of Craig and Andrea Al- exander; Keith Robert MacKenzie, son of Don and Joanne McIntosh and Steven Richard, son of Scot and Leah Morgan. Shelly Morgan and Sam Toorn- stra were received into Thames Road Church by Adult Confirma- tion. Their wedding takes place this Saturday in the church. Bill Rohde, clerk of session, pre- sented the parents of the babies with certificates of Baptism and New Testaments. Miller and Toomstra received confirmation certificates and a new testament. The choir sang 0 Jesus I have Promised accompanied by the or- ganist Erin Kraftcheck. Rev. Allsop's sermon was enti- tled What Does Church Member- ship Mean? Dan and Janet Coward hosted the Coffee Hour at Elimville and Mari- on Cann and Hilda Kelleu at Thames Road. Coming events On Monday, November 9 there will be an open meeting at Thames Road Church at 89 p.m. The Thames Road-Elimville Pastoral Charge have invited neighbouring rural churches to attend an Open Meeting for sharing and discus- sion. The theme of the meeting will be Visioning For Church's Revitali- zation and Growth. Personals Eleven ladies from Thames Road attended Elimville U.C.W. Harvest Tea. Kirkton, Woodham, Zion and Centralia ladies were also guests . Rick Skinner of Exeter showed pic- tures and gave a wonderful com- mtrntary of his recent trip to India. Barbara Miller of Toronto spent the weekend at her home here. Covenanting Service A fair crowd attended the Cove- nanting Service at Elimville United Church on Sunday evening for Rev. Jim Allsop. Rev. William Jones of Kirkton-Woodham Pasto- ral Charge conducted the service. There were a few words from Rev. Peter Tucker of the Belgrave charge. Bruce Delbridge read the passag- es of Scripture Judges 4:4-10, I Co- rinthians 3:5-17, Luke 5:1-11. Rev. Gordon Duncan of Centenni- al United Church Stratford deliv- ered the sermon entitled Team Work. Members of Elimville and Thames Road choirs sang My Shep- herd Is the Living Lord accompa- nied by the organist Marjorie Johns. Greetings were given by Rev. Gor- don Duncan, Ann Kernick, Bruce Delbridge, Judith Parker, Janet Coward, Rev. Hilborn, Sam Skin- ner, Pat Down and Rev. Bill Jones and a letter of greetings from Larry Miller. A time of fellowship was enjoyed by all present which brought an en- joyable evening to a close. hipka S by Annie Morenz SHIPKA - Some local men have returned from a hunting trip to Red Lake, near the Manitoba border. They were Cliff Russell of Dash- wood and his two sons Tom and Bruce, Cliffs brother Earl and a friend from Essex. Bruce bagged a moose on this trip. Michelle Vincent, who is present- ly ' attending Windsor University, spent last weekend at home here to visit her parents, Harold and Lu - GB parish saddened GRAND BEND - The entire par- ish of Immaculate Heart of Mary was saddened to hear of the death of Paul Dietrich, church organist for many years. He became ill with cancer around Easter time in the spring, and went to his sister's home in Winnipeg for the past few months. hP sympathy of the com- munity is extended to Anne Patter- son and her daughters and all the family members. Visitation will take place at Hoffman's Funeral Home on Tuesday, with special prayers in the evening. The funeral Mass takes place on Wednesday at 11 am., with burial in Mount Car- mel Cemetery. We spent one day in the Elmira and St. Ja- cob's area, sightseeing, lots of hors- es and buggies, shopping and out to West Montrose to drive through the covered bridge. From left are Carrie Connelly, Serena Leyes, Carmen Kelly, Katie Maslen, Peter Ewald, and Jeff Damen. The coun- cil all function as equals and there are no titles or positions of authority. One of the council's first projects was a Hallowe'en party planned in the school last week. The Anglican parish Bible Study was held on Wednesday afternoon, at the home of Mary Jefferies. Norman and Velma Hodgins of St. Marys visited with Elmer and Ilabelle Harlton one evening last week. Emerson and Mary Wallis spent the weekend with their son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Linda Wallis and grandson Keith of Maidstone. At the Granton United Church on Sunday, Pirie Mitchell of Park- hill took charge of the service in the absence of Normalie Voakes.
