Woman honoured for 15 years service in Zurich

ZURICH - Meals on wheels be-
gan in the kitchen of she Blue Wa-
ter Rest Home in June 1977 with
Annie Fihkbeinez in Charge of sell-
ing dinner tickets, which she has
continued to do the past 15 years.
She is now handing the job over to
Marilee Ayotte (236-4169). Meals
on Wheels are provided Tuesdays
and Thursdays at noon.
In appreciation, she received
flowers from head cook Kathy
Stecklc. She has also been active
as a volunteer driver for the Chil-
dren's Shelter in Goderich and the
Home -Bound in Huronview.
Lutheran workshop
The fall workshop for the Evan -
g tical Lutheran Women was held
at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Windsor Saturday. President Phy-
lis Deichen attended along with
Donna Klopp and Veola Wood rep-
resenting St. Peter's Lutheran
Church.
Youth group
The St. Boniface youth group
held their meeting Sunday after-
noon in the parish hall. Plans are
underway for a haunted house.
CWL
The monthly meeting of the St.
Boniface CWL was held last Tues-
day beginning with the Living Ro-
sary before mass. The ladies will

combined with Goshen on Sunday
to celebrate their 123 anniversary at
the Goshen Church.
Guest speaker was Rev. Robert
Guiliano introduced by Jean Benm-
nett, Guiliano gave a very moving
and humorous message on "St
John's in the Wilderness", Linda
Linfield and Marjorie Hayter
showed their talents with two duets
"Reach Out to Jesus" and "Show a
Bit of Love and Kindness".
The choir also sang a number "Je-
sus My Lord".
Rev. Phillips gave the call to wor-
ship. He thanked everyone who
helped in any way for this service
and welcomed everyone. He also
announced Thursday October 22 at
7 p.m. the Trends Youth Group will
meet in Brucefield Church. Friday
October 23 the young peoples
group (age 14 and up) will meet at
Huron Centennial School in Bruce -
field at 7 p.m. for volleyball. The
young peoples group from Sebring-
ville and Rostock will also be there.
They are asked to bring $2 each for
a foster child.
Wednesday October 28 is Gosh -
en's fall turkey supper in Goshen
Church. There are some tickets left.

Looking for something to do Hal-
lowe'en night? The Stanley Town-
ship'Rec Coinrittee is planning a
dance for only $15 per couple. This
includes a live band "Magnum", a
light lunch and prizes for costumes.
For tickets contact any rec commit-
tee members or pick one up at the
Municipal Office at the Complex.
Mecung four of the Varna 4-1i,
"The Fried Chicks" was opened
with the roll call, name one spice,
meat or vegetable that could be
cooked with either a stir -fried
chicken recipe or scrambled eggs.
Their was discussion on deboning
chicken breasts and the nutrition of
chicken and eggs. Parmesan Chick-
cn Fingers were made and all mem-
bers thought they were very tasty.
For homework they were to rate
their [amily foodstyle habits.
Meeting five was on Microwave
moments discussing the safely of
cooking with microwaves with both
chicken and eggs. Also some dis-
cussion how to separate eggs and
on the different meringues. Alsaska
baked bounty was made and en-
joyed by all. Achievement night
was also discussed and it will be
Tuesday October 27 with each
member inviting a parent or a
friend. This will be a picnic style
supper with finger foods with
games to follow and also awards.

Dave Miller on the arrival of their
baby boy whom was born October
14.
Despite the cold snowy wet
weather many people braved it and
came out for the Bannockburn 19th
annual hike. Ausable Bayfield Con-
servation Authority staff were there
to serve everyone hot or cold cider
and apples and also to guide people
on he trails and show them points
of interest and answer questions.
It was the first time is snowed for
this annual hike.

Parish dance
Plans are underway for the St.
Boniface Parish Knights of Colum-
bus Harvest Dance on Saturday,
November 7 at the Zurich Commu-
nity Centre beginning at 9 p.m.
'Parish -bazaar - -
The Si Boniface Parish Bazaar
will be held Saturday, November 7
from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the school
gym. Included will be a penny
sale, baked goods, crafts, hot dogs
and a tea room as well as draws for
various articles.

\St. Peters CWL is having a pen-
ny sale at the parish hall Sunday.
October 25 at 7 p.m.
Ina Neeb and Gerry Kane recent-
ly attended a women's institute fall
rally in Brussels.
Leave pick-up
There are two days set aside for
picking up leaves. They must be
bagged and by the curb Monday,
October 26 and Monday, Novem-
-Jrer 9, both by noon.
Story hour
Once again pre-schoolers are en-
joying story hour every other
Thursday afternoon at the library,
conducted by Helene Ducharme.
Agricultural dinner
Anyone interested in going to the
Agricultural Society Dinner at the
Zurich Community Centre Tues-
day, October 27 is asked to call
Margaret Deichen at 236-4130 by
October 20. Tickets -are S 10 per
person. Displays will be set up for
viewing between 6-7 p.m. followed
by dinner.
Personals
Peter and Eleanor Cecile of Te-
cumseh spent last week visiting rel-
atives in the area including his
niece Geraldine and Jerome Wszo-
la, and her niece Carmel Sweeney.
Sweeney returned to Windsor with
them to visit with friends and rela-
dves.
Sheila Regier and Nicholas Pei-
rol were married at Si Boniface on
Saturday by Father Peter Hayes.
The bride is the daughter of Karl
and Mary Reiser.
Three couples are celebrating an-
niversaries; Louis and Josie De-
nomme 46 -years, Joe and Doreen
Denomme 45 years and Tony and
Adeline Denomme 51 years.
Birthday wishes are expressed to
Anne Flaxbard and Gerard Du-
charme.
Three babies were baptized by
Father Hayes at Si Boniface Sun-
day; Annique Hanna Eilers, daugh-
ter of Gerd and Tanja; Curtis Mark
Regier, son of Mark and Debbie;
and Matthew Ryan Regier, son of
Tim and Jacqueline.
Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery to Maria Kende, a patient at
South Campus, Victoria Hospital in
London.
Sincere sympathy is offered to
the family of Arnold Merner who
passed away October 8.

Curtis and Mary Gingerich re-
turned from a trip visiting friends in
Minnesota and Iowa and spent a
week visiting daughter Sandi and
Leo McCarron and their two sons
in Hesston, Kansas.
