Greenway honours 1

Greenway Anniversary
Greenway United Church held
their 117th Anniversary service with
a good attendance including several
from this area. Special speaker was
Rev. Charles Scott, of London. His
sermon topic was "Price of Free-
dom".
Special music was by the David
Ross family of Parkhill with musical
numbers by Emma Thorpe at organ,
.Heather Thorpe and Sandy Heide-
brecht playing flutes.
Service at Grand Bend United
was cancelled so a good number at-
tended from the Bend.
The Greenway ladies served a de-
licious lunch following the morning
service.
Thanksgiving holiday visitors
John and Beverley Keller, Ste-
phen and Sherri -Lynn , with Bev's
patents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirk at
Tothsay.
With Don and Elizabeth Adams,
were their son Clark, from Stratford
also Brock and Dianne Adams with
Andrew, Colin and Dean from Lon-
don.
Ferman and Leota Snyder were
Sunday guests in London at their
daughters Esther and Ric Story,
Scott and Steven.
Hugh and Annie Morenz were
supper guests Thanksgiving Sunday
with his sister Hazel Corbett at Hen -
sell. Joining them Monday for sup-
per was their son Bill from London.
Annie and Angie Zielman, accom-
panied by Angie's sister, Ruth Zehr,
Mandy Anneka and Sarn of Zurich,
spent the weekend with relatives in
Leamington and Essex. Saturday
they visited Annie's sister, Susan
Janzen, Sunday they had Thanksgiv-
ing dinner at Bill and Ellen Jan-
zen's and Monday they visited Hu -
sic and Wayne Robson, Cohn,
Sheina and Breagh.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark and
granddaughter Kathy of Toronto,
who were up to attend the Baker -
Lawson wedding, were Thanksgiv-
ing dinner guests with Ken and
Marg Baker.
Centralia

CENTRALIA - At the United
Church on Sunday Rev. Geddes
chose as his subject "Can We Still
Believe in Prayer".
An official board meeting will be
held for both churches at Zion West
United Church on Wednesday, Oc-
tober 21 at 8 p.m. The Centralia
United Church Anniversary Service
will be held Sunday, October 25 at
11:30 a.m. Ladies of the congrega-
tion are asked to bring squares or
cookies. All are welcome to the
shower for Kelly Hodgson being
held Thursday evening at 8 p.m.,
October 22 at Centralia United
Church.
Mary Kooy was a dinner guest of
her niece Joyce and Peter Sove-
reign

Sunday and another niece Hilda
Bonner visited on Saturday eve-
ning.
The euchre at the community
centre on Thanksgiving had seven
tables playing. Prize winners were
Jean Millar, Albert Defaussess,
Mary Kooy, Tom Emery, Ilene
Rollings, Harry Arnold. Next gath-
ering will be October 26 at 8 p.m.
A gentleman from Lucan vicinity
was seen last Friday picking ripe
raspberries with his mitts on. Some-

ing" was sung and Rev. Allsop told
the children's story "Apples are like

from Isaiah 57:14-19 and Acts
20:17-38. Rev. Allsop's sermon
was entitled "Thames Road: It's
past and it's Future". Erin Kraft -
check was the organist for the ser-
vice.

Doris Simpson read a humorous -
reading "A Farmer's Divorce".
Deanne Johns did several tap
dance numbers.
Alma Ballantyne played several
numbers on the piano and Kathy
Bray gave an address while Vanes-
sa, Kristy and Jessica Bray carried
the gifts to the bride in a decorated
basket.
