Entertain residents with song
ZURICH - Last Tuesday evening
approximately 10 members of the
Christian Reformed Church, Exeter
visited Blue Water Rest Home and
sang to the residents their favourite
hymns. The choir was accompanied
by Steven Poortinga on the piano.
During refreshment period, the
choir mingled with the residents,
quite often reacquainting them-
selves with a former neighbour or
friend.
The Christian Reformed Church
Choir also visit the residents at the
Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall
and Exeter Villa on alternate Tues-
day evenings of the month. Al-
though the church does not have a
regular choir, these folk get togeth-
er to form a choir group for the rest
homes and freely give of their time.
In the mornings, the residents en-
joyed fun and fitness, newspaper
reading, Bible reading and remi-
niscing. The evenings were spent
with games, Resident Council
meetings and that good old game of
Bingo.
Father Peter Hayes celebrated
Mass on Thursday afternoon. Pas-
tor Winston Martin, Zurich Men-
nonite Church was in charge of
Chapel Service.
Loreen Devine, of the Blue Wa-
ter Rest Home apartments, spent
the Thanksgiving weekend with her
sister, Vcrda Lada and family at
Point Clarke. On Monday Loreen
and her husband Lorne. of
B.W.R.H., enjoyed the company of
Loreen's brother, Earl Wcibcrg and
wife Kathleen of London.
Our condolences to the family of
the late Kathleen Ross who passed
away at B.W.R.H. on Sunday, Oc-
tober 11. Ross moved to the Maple -
woods Apartments five years ago
from the city of Waterloo and in
the spring of '92 Ross moved across
the mad to B.W.R.H.
The residents look forward ID
their Birthday Party on the Thurs-
day hosted by the .U.C.W. of Bay-
field United Church.
A thank you to Rachel Nutt, a
Grade 12 student from Dashwood
who has volunteered her services to
help the residents.
A thank you to Annie Finkbeinet
of Zurich for her pact services in
selling tickets for the Meals on
Wheels Program. Marilee Ayotte of
Zurich at telephone number 236-
4169 will be the new ticket sales
person. Please call Ayotte for your
new supply of tickets.

Look out Referendum on October
26. I have been informed that the
Resident Council on Thursday eve-
ning discussed the Referendum
Agreement reached on August 28
and the residents appear to have
more understanding of what it is all
about than the persons who drew
up the agreement.

C. Haskett and San furniture
In 1882 when Charles Haskett bought this business it
made good sense that the person who made a cabinet
would be the same individual called upon to make a cas- -
ket. After 110 years of operating as a family business in
the same tradition combining the furniture store and funer-
al home, it has become increasingly difficult to balance the
time commitment necessary to maintain the level of ser-
vice we would like to provide in both areas of our opera-
tion.
The decision to close the furniture store has been a very
difficult one. Our customers have allowed us to continue
in the retail business community through four generations.
We have appreciated your business, your loyal support and
your friendship.
