Robert De- graw, Centralia officiating. Maid of honour was Cathy Prout, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kim Craw- ford, sister of the groom and Carla Dalton, cousin of the bride. Flowergirl was Sarah Parker, niece of the bride. Best man was Andy Philips, friend of the groom. Ushers were Jamie Parker, brother of the bride and Rob DeVries, friend of the groom. Ringbear- er was Matthew Prout, neph- ew of the bride. Pianist and soloist was Sharon Parker, sister-in-law of the bride. Photo by William Mason, Exeter Forthcoming marriage - Mr. and Mrs. Ted Misek are pleased to announce the long awaited marriage of their daughter Catherine Anne to Terry Dean Robert Glanville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glanville. The wedding will _take place on October 24, 1992 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Open reception to fol- low at the Hensall Communi- ty Centre. FA Women's Institute awards annual scholarships AILSA CRAIG - The London Area Conference of the Women's Institute presented its annual Maryn Purdy scholarships at their annual convention last Wednesday. Winners of the post -secondary education scholarships were Heath- er Faber of Edertoh, Mary Lou Stewart of McKillop Township, and Jeremy Rodgers of Central El- gin Township. Marylin Thomson, a W.I. mem- ber, won a 90th anniversary Wom- en's Institute scholarship for her re- turn in school. The convention, with its "I'm proud to be a Canadian" theme, drew 305 attendees. Guest speaker at the evening banquet was newspa- per writer Helen Baker of Milver- ton who addressed the theme. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the Girls Ensem- ble from North Middlesex District High School. .1' The new executive of the London Area Women's institute were Installed last Wednesday eve- ning in Ailsa Craig at the annual convention. In the front row, from left, are treasurer Marion Bete, first vice-president Dolores Shapton, president Margaret Dale, and secretary Fran Hyatt. Behind are PRO Betty Walther, past -president Hide Morden, program co-ordinator Donna Kitt - mer, curator ruth Matheson, new branch organizer Marian Dougall, assistant secretary Doris Spence, and board directors Dorothy Sutherland, Pauline Lindsay, and Laurene McIntosh. Hibbert UCW enjoy coffee hour STAFFA - Hibbert United Church Women held a very suc- cessful coffee hour in the Family Life Centre on Wednesday morn- ing with everyone enjoying, muf- fins, biscuits, jams, coffee and tea on arrival, prepared and served by Helen Fell, Freda Kerslake, Annie Norris and Marjorie Johns. Florence McPhail chaired the event, welcoming everyone. Sing- ing was enjoyed accompanied by Mary F. Dow. Devotions were giv- en by Margaret Kemp using "To- day" as her theme. Gwen Christie very ably demon- strated making one's own greeting and gift cards, using dried flowers, autumn leaves, cross stitch, tatting etc. on her cards. McPhail ex- pressed everyone's appreciation. Members of Cromarty Marion Ritchie WMS were guests of their "twins" Britain WMS ladies on Wednesday evening at Maitland Terrace Listowel. Personals Art and Esther Smale have re- turned from a holiday in British Columbia where they visited with their daughter Helen and her fami- ly. John and Roberta Templeman enjoyed a trip north to Beaver Val- ley, where the trees were at their best. They also visited with Reg. and Phyllis Templeman at Wasaga Beach. Doris Miller and Joyce Miller represented Staffa Women's Insti- tute at the Perth County Rally on Thursday in Kirkton. Pat, Joanne, Matthew and Kelly Donovan Val Dor Quebec visited over Thanksgiving weekend with Joanne's family and also attended the 25th wedding anniversary of Neil and Diana Dapien on Friday evening in Brodhagen. • Hank and Nancy Bertens hosted the Templeman Family Thanksgiv- ing at their home on Sunday, with over 35 attending. Gavin, Heather, Adam and Bran- don Quiney Victoria, British Colum- bia, visited for a few days with Heather's parents Bert and Margaret Daynard and family.
