October 13, 1982 - A task force to gather support to
have the TV Ontario network beamed directly into Hu-
ron county homes will be established.
There's still some hope that the assets of Hughes Colum-
bia Inc. will be purchased in total by investors interested
in carrying on the boat building firm's business in Huron
Park.
The outlook for this year's white bean crop is not the
brightest according to Gordon Hill, chairman of the Onta-
rio White Bean Marketing Board.
Canada's Minister of Agriculture Eugene Whelan offi-
cially opened the New Life Mills plant at Denfield last
week and said the long-term outlook of agriculture re-
mains bright.
Dashwood Industries has announced the completion of
an agreement to merge its British Columbia wood window
operation with Kayiine Industries of Vancouver.
The 1982 Ilderton Fall Fair attracted more than 8,000
persons and the new Fair Queen is Antje Seegleken.
Tony Mc()uail of R.R. 1, Lucknow is the new president
of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture.

October 12, 1967 -Despite foul weather, a change of lo-
cation and a delayed start the Centennial caravan still at-
tracted 8,296 visitors to its location to the Canadian Can-
ners parking lot from the Community Park in Exeter.
A.11. Carter Engines of England is the second tenant at
Centralia Industrial Park. The company manufactures
carriers that carry new automobiles to dealers.
A beauty contest and hat designs have been added to this
year's car show being sponsored by the Exeter Kinsmen
Club.
Ontario voters go to the polls Tuesday. The choices in
Huron are incumbent Progressive Conservative Charles
MacNaughton, Liberal Morgan Smith and Rev. John
Boyne for the New Democratic Party.
On October 18, the new Stephen township municipal
building and the .Crediton park baseball lighting system
will be opened as Centennial projects.
Huron's Ag Rep Doug Miles says the 1967 farm year is
not bad, but very difficult.

October 15, 1942 - The large bank barn on the Conces-
sion 3 Stephen township farm of Melvin King was com-
pletely destroyed by fire this week.
It has been brought to our attention that some persons
have been responsible for spreading of certfan false and
malicious rumours concerning his Matjesty's forces sta—
tioned
tioned at R.C.A.F. Centralia. Anyone hearing of such a ru-
mour is asked to call Group Captain Fullerton or Exeter
reeve Benson Tuckey.
The village of Exeter has proclaimed support for- the
forthcoming Victory Loan drive. All residents and busi-
nesses are urged to fly flags and purchase bonds to the
limit of their ability.
Usborne township council has passed a bylaw allowing
residents to shoot any dog without a tag that is bothering
livestock or poultry. The bounty is $7

October 13, 1892 - The masons have completed the cel-
lar for William Dearing's new house in Stephen township.
At the Exeter markets wheat is 65 cents a.bushel, barley
40 cents a bushel, eggs at 14 cents a dozen and butter goes
for 15 cents per pound.

.OPP seek information
on vandalism
HENSALL - The Exeter OPP are seeking help in their investiga-
tion of several incidences of vandalism in Hensall between October
2and5.
Police say that three panes of glass were broken by a pellet gun at
Hensall Public School and a window was smashed out of a truck
parked at the Hensall Co -Op.
Anyone who has information about these occurrences are asked to
call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-265-1777. You will not have to reveal
your identity or give evidence in court.

O Make it clear, concise and easy to read - and no longer
than two pages
O The resume should be typed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper
with enough white space to prevent a cluttered look
O Start with your name, address and phone number
O Next under a sub -heading "Work History" detail the
previous jobs you've held - in reverse date order
- that is, last job first.
O Use a separate paragraph for each position and
precede it with the dates you held that position
O State the job title, a brief description of the
responsibilities - and the results you achieved.
O The next section of your resume should come under the
sub -heading of "Education". Start with the highest
degree obtained or grade completed, followed by the
name of the institution at which you studied. Follow
this with previous education attainments. At the end,
list any specific instructional courses you have
attended in conjunction with your work.
O Under the sub -heading "Affiliations", list memberships
and/or offices held in professional or industry
associations.
O Under the sub -heading "Personal Interests" list any
activities which you feel will be of interest to the
employer - such as volunteer work, etc.
Your letter of application and your resume will be the
factors that make the employer decide whether to short
llst you for an interview. So make It as Impressive
as you can - but stick to the facts.
