Congratulations to Rick and Tracy Gower (nee
Johns) who were married on Saturday evening at Cen-

Rev. Robert Degraw, pastor of Faith Tabernacle.
Jean Caslick and boys spent a few days with her par-
ents in Cargill. Brent joined them on Sunday and spent
the holiday.
Mrs. June Essery was very surprised when her son
Rob showed her the November issne of the aviation
magazine "Air Classics", for in amongst a feature arti-
cle on the 365th Fighter Group of the United States Air
Force were no more than two pictures of her brother
2st lieutenant Donald T. Newcombe.
In the first of a two part article concluded in next
month's issue it went on to say that Don was awarded
the Distinguished Flying Cross for flying his severely
damaged airplane over 100 miles from a mission over
France back to his base in England. This was news for
Mrs. Essery who knew he was decorated but not for
what action.
Don was later killed in action on July 11, 1944 and is
buried near Caen, France.
