Playhouse Guild reviews fundraising

GRAND BEND - Members of
the Huron Country Playhouse
Guild met on Wednesday, Septem-
ber 23 at the Oakwood Inn Conven-
tion room. President Dee Overduin
charred the meeting, and welcomed
all new members andauests.
Projects chair Shirley McIntyre
announced the winner of the quilt
draw, Anna J. Sheen of Sarnia. The
quilt raffle earned a profit of over
S1.500. Audrey Evershed of Lon-
don, grandmother of five, won the
beautiful doll with handcrafted
wardrobe, which brought in over
51.200. -Paul. Nutt won the .trip
draw.

GRAND BEND - Grand Bend
Golden age club held their first eu-
chre of the fall season last
Wednesday night at the Legion
Hall. There were 9 tables in play.
Winners were ladies high - Elda
Adams; ladies low - Eileen Hig-
gins: mens high - Lloyd Mous
seau; mens low won by Aileen
Ravelle playing a mans 'card. La-
dies lonen hands was a be by
Alma Genttner and Norma Wal-
perr; men's tone hands - Emil
Becker.
The clubs next euchre Will- be -
October 14 at 7:30 in the legion.

GRAND BEND - Work on the
new Catholic Church Parish Centre
is progressing, with aiding and
roofing tile on the outside nearly
completed. Inside. partitions are in
place plumbing installed and heat -
in ,ducts going in, as parishioners
inflect the work each week after
Mass.

Leigh Mennen, infant daughter of
Bill Mennen and Sherry Chapde-
lame. who was welcomed .into the
Catholic community ..through the
sacrament of Baptism.
There is a Thanksgiving F,cumcn-
rcal Service at the United Church

the UCW ladies of Geed Bend. All

a special Marian Devotion on
Thy, October 1, to recite the
Rosary at 7 p.m.. followed by 7:15

Rosary Devotion will be observed

p.m. during the month of October.

Pastor Colin Stover's sermon topic
was, "For the love of ...." Scrip-
tures were bead from Timothy 6:
6-19 and Luce 16: 19-3I .The cltil-
dnen's song and story was "Magic
Penny." Cohn gave the children an
object lesson with pennies. The
choir anthem was "one church. one
faith, one Lord."
Kay Stoddard gage the report on
the Gift Shop that the HCP Guild
manage out at the Playhouse. Sales
were up $2,000 over last year, with
a net profit over 53,500 plus inven-
tory remaining, and seed money for
next year's purchases. Barb Smits
and Marg Andrews were- thadsod
for ceganizingthestore rttaffmg for
the summer. It was voted to present
Gordon Lambert with a special
painting by Martin Zimmer, as a
thank you for the art work that
Lambert has -donated.
Kate Burnett. from the Playhouse
Foundation.*ave an update on their
fundraising efforts. Only about 100
tickets are let for sale - 300 sold al-
ready - to the Dimer/Auction on
October 17. Donated articles are
still coming in and are on display at
the old Fincher's Store in Exeter. A
painting was won by Barbara Dow
of Exeter in an Early' Bird Draw. In
• only 28 days, over $1,600 has been
raised in the new Star Campaign.

60,000 people came to see the
- shows, with an average of 92 per-
cent attendance. The pre-
--oobscriptiort drive has.already sold
74 percent of last year's tail sales,
_making next year's season look
very promising indeed.
Under new business, Roberta
Walker offered tickets for a fund-
- raiser for the Community Living
Association. to be held on October
24 at the Grand Bend Legion. A
Murder Mystery Dinner, play by
• Barbara Wheeldon, harvest buffet.
Hallowe'en costumes. DJ and danc-
ing and prizes. Tickets are on sale
at the Barefoot Pedlar. The annual
General Meeting for the Guild is
October 28.

TOWNSHIP OF BOSANQUET AND THE
TOWNSHIP, DF STEPHEN
The County of Lambton has proposed that the boundaries between
the Village of Grand Bend. the Township of Bosanquet and the Township
of Stephen be adjusted by annexing certain lands from the Townships to
the Village and to deal with other boundary -related issues
This proposal has been made under the Sarnia-Lambton Actwhich
was passed by the Legislature of Ontario in 1989
The purpose of this advertisement is to give notice to the public tha'
subject to the consideration of any objections, the Executive Gouncn
(i.e. Cabinet) intends to implement this proposal by Order -in -Council as
soon atter the 28th day of October. 1992 as possible
The proposed boundary change is indicated on the map below
