ST. PAULS - The Beeler Chrys-
ler 'Imperials are hoping history
will repeat itself.
A year ago in the South Perth
Men's Fastball League semi-final
series, they lost the fust game to St.
Marys Selects.
Monday night in St. Pawls, the
Imperials were beaten 4-1 by the
host Generals and now trail the
best -of -three series. St. Pauls could
wrap things up Thursday night in
Exeter in a 9 p.m. start.
in 1991, the Imperials came back
to beat the Selects two straight and
advance to the league final where
they bowed to Sebringville Juniors
in the fifth and deciding game.
In St. Pauls, Exeter pitcher Der-
wyn Hodgins and &snortds' Jon
Van Ness went head-to-head for
five innings before due hosts got a
run in to bottom of the sbxth frame.
Centreftelder Lothar Mueller led

on Sept. 13 at Lucan Arena
EXETER - In just 11 days the
Exeter Mohawks will begin prepar-
ing to defend their OHA Senior
'AA' hockey title.
On September 13, the Mohawks
open training camp at the Lucan
Community Center at JO p.m.
"We just started to call guys this
week," said Exeter coach and gen-
eral manager Dave Revington.
1t could be a little tougher than
some may think to repeat as provin-
cial champions. Competition and a
possible question mark in goal are a
couple of minor problems facing
the Mohawks in pre -season.
Pt. Edward who were beaten in
four quick games for the title by the
Mohawks in the spring, will not be
icing a team but don't be surprised
to see the key players from that
club link up with Petrous.
"They (Pt. Edward) never showed
up for the scheduling meeting and
they know a month in advance,"
said Revington.
The league has been shuffled
slightly and the Mohawks will play
in the Southern Senior A league
with Walpole Island, Petrolia,
Strathroy, Dorchester, Ingersoll,
Aylmer, Dunnville and Exeter.
A 28 -game schedule will see just
two games, home -and -home with
Dunnville and Creemore of the
northern loop.
Will repeating as champs be im-
possible?
"It won't be impossible I think
we'll be in the top three," said Rev-
ington.
At the end of last season, goalie
Rick Pikul, the club's number one
puckstopper, said he would not be
returning but that's not carved in
stone.
"Of course we have (Jeff) Hill
and Paul (Woolford) and a kid
coming out from New Hamburg."
Revington expects a lot of last
year's players back and maybe a
few new ones. He doesn't know
about Dave Randerson, Paul Bar-
ton, GregPayne or Mark Bannon.
He said Gord Brooks may join
the team as an assistant coach.
Following is a schedule of train-
ing camp :

right field. Imperials' Damen Neil
couldn't handle it and threw it away
which saw Mueller come all the
way home.
St. Pauls added three more in
their half of the eighth on four hits
before the imperials managed t0
plate one of their own in the ninth.
"They're always tough this time
of the year," said Exeter catcher
Brian Noyes of the Generals'.
With their backs to the wall, now
heading into a game which could
eliminate them from league play,
the Imperials •ane going to have to
tighten up on both offense and de-
fense.
"Don't boot the ball around and
score when you get the chance,"
said Noyes.
Both teamsfleft eight runners on
base but the Imperials had a very
good chance in the ninth frame
when they left the bases loaded.
Jeff Shipley led off the ninth with
a single up the middle, he went to
second on a wild pitch and scored
on Noyes' second hit of the night,
this one up the middle. Hodgins
struck out, Steve Neil singled and
after Graham Nesbitt went down
swinging, Mike Neil walked to load
them up. But Sandy Hyde popped
out to first base to end the Imperi-
als' rally.
"I think we can come back.
We've got the team to do it. We had
nine hits. We should score some
runs with nine hits. We should have
had a run in the first inning," said
Noyes.
In the opening frame, Darren
Neil singled with one out, went to
third on Shipley's base hit but was
tagged out at the plate when he
tried to score on a passed ball.
What proved to be the winning
run of the game in the St. Pauls half
of the eighth came when Mueller
led off with a triple to left field and
then Jon • Bailey hit an inside the
park home run on a ball that just
got by Exeter outfielder Mike Neil.
Hodgins struck out 16, gave up
Low net scores at the ironwood Ladies' night round -up held
on Monday went to, at back left, Bev Robinson for the C flight,
Marlene Parsons for A flight and Betty Coates for the D flight.
At front left is B flight winner M.J. Chanyi and and A flight win-
ner Janet Wedlake.
