The first delivery of Co-op's new green gasoline was to Leonard Duynisveld's farm at R.R.3 Ilderton on August 11. The delivery marked the start of a UCO Petroleum Inc. program to test on-farm delivery of ethanol gasolines. Other farmers involved in the test program, arc: Duncrief Farms - Hugh, Anthony and Matthew Aetts, Denfield; Bloomfield Farms - Barry and Mary Ellen Bloomfield, R.R.3 Ilderton; McComb Farms - Alex and Grant McComb, R.R.I Ilderton; Northrup King Seeds - R.R.I Arva. The ethanol -blended fuels, Co-op Ethanol Premium • and Co-op Ethanol Mid -grade, contain up to 10 per- cent ethanol which, according to Environmental Choice, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions up to 30 percent and carbon monoxide emissions by 10 per- cent. The ethanol is obtained from Commercial Alco- hols Inc. at Tiverton and is produced from Ontario corn. The management of UCO Petroleum fully expect the test to prove successful and when it is complete, plan to expand bulk delivery to other farms in South- western Ontario. "Deliveries of ethanol -blended fuels to the farm complete the circle,"says Glen Perschbacher, Vice President and General Manager of UCO Petroleum... "Co-op ethanol -blended fuels benefit the environ- ment and help boost the market for Ontario com. It's fitting that farmers should he able to use these fuels to produce more corn on the soil they want to pro- tect". Since their introduction to -Co-op and UCO Gas Bars, Co-op ethanol gasolines have been widely sup- . ported by Ontario consumers. Perschbacher says he expects even greater support from Ontario farmers, particularly corn producers. UCO Petroleum Inc. is a joint venture petroleum company owned equally by the farnt supply co- operative United Co-operatives of Ontario (UCO) and Sunoco, Inc. Ontario will include the Huron County Planning and Development office located in Goderich.
