The Classics opened the tourna-
ment with a big 6-0 blanking of
Dublin.
Third baseman Ruth Pugh started
the game off right with a home run
which was all Crediton would need
to win the first game of the tourna-
ment.
But the Classics added more in
the first frame when Brenda Wilds,
Theresa Simpson, Carol Windsor,
Sherri Nickles, and Mary McKillop
all connected with base hits.
In the fourth, Kelli Kennedy,
Pugh and Wilds had hits before
Simpson connected with a double.
Windsor, who pitched all three
games for Crediton, retired the side
in order in the first, sixth and sev-
enth innings while striking out
four.
Easily handle Greys
The biggest rivalry in the league
met head on Saturday afternoon as
the Classics went against the Exet-
er Greys. But it was Crediton elim-
inating Exeter with a 14-3 win.
While the Greys managed to
score a pair of runs off of hits from
Kendra Arthur, Gayle Beuennan
and Brenda Bell, the Classics an-
swered with five nuns in their half
of the first.
With two out, Teresa Van Rally,
Simpson, Windsor, Nickles, lane
Bowley and Wilds all had hits
while Deb Lord was sate on an er-
ror
In the fourth inning, Exeter star-
ing pitcher Patti Down was re-
placed by Beuerman and the Clas-
Atter hitting a home run on Saturday against Exeter, Credi-

Bantams -split at WOBA tournament
DURHAM - The (lntarw lyase
ball Association bantam 'D' tourna-
ment may be in Exeter on the La-
bor bay weekend but the local
team concentrated on the WOBA
tournament this past weekend.
In tour games, Exeter came ul
with two wins and a pair of losses.
They opened with a 10-6 loss to
burham. Bill Hodge swung a big
bat for Exeter with a home run and
a single while Jeff Glavin conncci-
ed with a double and a single

Nixon was perfect at the plate with three singles and a double in lute
plate apperances. Russell had a seventh inning two run homer.

It only too the first inning for Ex -
eter to beat Mitchell as they scored
three runs to win 8-1.
But it was the fourth inning in
which The Greys plated four rums
which made the difference.
Lynne Farquhar led off with a
single and with one out, Dianne
Willis reached base on an error.
That was followed by a /letterman
triple and then Sandi Fremlin also
hada triple.
The Greys added one more in the
fifth when gremlin doubled and
scored on Bell's base hit

STRATHROY - One swing of
the hat meant the end of the Exeter
Express' baseball season here
Wednesday night.
A single by the hosting Brewers'
Lonnie Taylor, lifted them to a 6-5
win in the bottom of the 11th in-
ning Strathroy swept the hest -of -
three series in hack -to -hack games
and will now advance to the Onta-
rio Baseball Association 'D' cham-
pionship tournament in Courtright.
Strathrov's Tom Woodiwiss ar-
rived at the game Iatc. went in to
Pinch ha in the bottom of the 11th
whore he led off with a triple and
scored on Taylor's tease hit.

Gilmour walked and they both ad-

Doug Schade walked which

home, jump over the catcher and
touch the plate to make it 5-4 with
none out. Walt Parkinson and Riv-
ard struck out and Elliott walked to
load the bases with two out.
Brewers 5, Express 4
Tuesday night in a wet, cold
game at the Alvin Willer! Field in
Exeter, the hosts led 3-1 after four
innings but the Brewers scored two
in the fifth and two more in the. sev-
enth.
Glover and Kerry Hedden had
outstanding games at the plate as
they each went 3 -for -4. Rivard add-
ed a double and a single.
Rob Dickey not only hit a
home run in Thursday's -game
but the second baseman
helped the Exeter Express
with this defensive play.
