Eccles - 527-0380 Page 2 Times -Advocate, August 26, 1092 ThJTJ-TFWFWS______ Reform party seeks candidate GRAND BEND - The Reform Patty of Canada is now actively seeking a Candidate to represent the Federal Riding of Lambton- Middlesex. A Nomination Committee has been formed by the Party's Riding Association to conduct a diligent search throughout the entire riding. "We invite applications from trustworthy men and women who are wining and capable of serving the Reform - minded voters of the area", said Mr. Bob Lauder who chairs the Committee. The committee will interview applicants to develop a qualified slate of potential Candidates. Final selection will be made by the gen- eral membership of the Associa- tion at a meeting which will be caned in the future to elect the par- ty's official candidate. Three speeding convictions in court EXETER - Three out-of-town men were convicted for speeding in Traffic Court held last Tuesday in Exeter. Justice of the Peace Karen Sturdy fined David Brounstein of Lon- don $41.25 for speeding, giving him 30 days to pay. Without the accused present, the court heard that on June 7 on Highway 81 Stephen Township Brounstein was clocked travelling 'south t at 110 km per hour in an 80 km zone. He was charged with travelling • 95 km per hour in an 80 km zone. Speeding Longping Yang of Toronto was represented by his lawyer and didn't appear in court for a charge of speeding 95 km per hour in an 80 km zone. The court was told that on June 29, the accused was clocked as travelling 100 km per hour in end 80 km zone on Highway 81 in Stephen Township and was charged with 95 km per hour. Justice of the Peace Karen Sturdy fined Yang $78.75 and gave him 60 clays to pay. Speeding Markus Stranz of 37 Ceders St., Kitchener pleaded guilty to a speeding charge for an incident which occurred on June 14 involv- ing an unmarked police car on Highway 83 in Stephen Township. The court heard an officer driving an unmarked car didn't have a radar gun, but paced the accused travelling east on the highway at 115 km per hour. The officer charged him with driving 100 km in an 80 km zone. In his defence, Stranz said he had passed the vehicles that were travelling 80 to 90 km per hour at a high speed but that when the of- ficer stopped him he had reduced his speed to 83 km per hour. Justice of the Peace Karen Sturdy convicted Stranz for the 100 km per hour in an 80 zone fining him $75 with 60 days to pay. No insurance Kevin Doey of London pleaded not guilty to charges of driving while under suspension and not having insurance after being stopped fora seat belt check on Main St., Exeter on July 11. Doey received a S500 fine for driving while under suspension and a $750 fine for driving without insurance. He was given 30 days to pay the fine. Permitting unlicensed driver John Moir of 160 Richmond SL, Hensall was convicted for per- mitting an unlicensed person to operate a motor vehicle. The ac- cused pleaded guilty to the charge. The court was told that on June 15 a police officer after being contacted by a citizen found that the Moi, s 13 year-old son was driving a dirtbike on the roadway. Justice of the Peace Karen Sturdy fined Moir $75. Unsafe lane change Richard Chute of 96 Port Frank, Thedford faces a fine of $75 after being convicted for making an unsafe lane change. The incident occurred in Stephen Township on August 5. The court was told the accused had hit a sign then a large tree when tak- ing a curve in the road. Chute, who pleaded guilty to the charge, told the court he had con- sumed a small amount of alcohol and was tired when he was round- ing the sharp curve. No insurance Christopher Flynn of London pleaded guilty to the charge of oper- ating a vehicle without insurance. The court was told that on July 7, on County Road 5 in Stephen Township, the accused was stopped by police as a passenger in his own car and admitted to not having insurance. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS Elementary pupils (grades 1-8) will commence school at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8,1992, and will attend the full day. All Junior Kindergarten pupils will attend school for one- half day during the first week of school. Parents of these pupils will be notified of entrance procedures prior to the beginning of school. Parents of Senior Kindergarten pupils will be notified of the specific starting date by each school principal prior to the beginning of school. For further information and registration df new students, parents may contact the local school principal during the week of August 31 to September 4. SECONDARY SCHOOLS All secondary school students who have not chosen their program for September, 1992, should do so in August before the opening of school at the school office in the attendance area in which they reside. Student Counsellors and/or administrative staff will be avail- able, by appointment, for the week of August 31 -September 4 to meet students with timetable problems or other program changes. Students who have successfully completed credits at Sum- mer School may require timetable revisions. Secondary schools with the exception of East Lambton S.S., will be registering students on Tuesday, September 1,1992, and on Wednesday, September 2,1992. During registration, students will pick-up their timetable for 1992-93 and be assigned to a locker. A student must also possess a school combination lock before a locker will be assigned. A new combination lock, if required, may be purchased at the school for 55.00. So that retuming to school can fit into the adult lifestyle rather than disrupt it, registration is continuous, and students may begin self -study courses at any time. There are no fees for credit classes, but some courses may require a refundable textbook, or materials deposit.
