"It's a lot of fun," she said. For the public, the real fun begins Saturday morning at 7 a.m. with the annual pancake breakfast. 27th annual Zurich Bean Festival hopes to attract 15,000 ZURICH - Come one, come all. Each year, the tesuval seems to gam in populanty and this year is expected to be one of the biggest as events for the whole family arc once again set for the enure day. "So long as the weather holds out, we're expecting we might top 15,000 this year," said Doug Erb. Bean Festival Chairman. Pork chops, cole slaw, salad and tush rolls are also on the dinner menu and volunteers have been moving full speed ahead to make the various preparations The 1992 edition of the Bean Festival is an action -packed -day in the village, beginning bright and early Saturday monung with the Zurich Minor Athletic Association pancake and sausage breakfast in the downtown core from 7-10 a.ni. The Custom Rod and Antique Car Show, always 1 guarantee to tum heads, will be held at the com- munity centre grounds groin N-5 p.m. for those who crave nostalgia. in the meantime, home cooked bean dinners will be available downtown from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. The Canadian Horseshoe Pitch- ing Championships will eoaunenc e on the community centre grounds at 11 a.m.. while the Children's Sto- at Hour will run from 11 am, until 12 noon at Zurich Public Sclksil Also at 11 a.m. will be the offi- cial opening and welcoming circ-_ monies of the 1992 Bean Festival. Has Bean Bingo will be held in the community centre auditorium beginning at noon, simultaneous with aonc great musical entertain- ment on the main stage. Com- mencing at 11:15 am., Serious Business will take the main stage, followed by Nightwind at 11:45. Nightwind will return to the stage from 2:45 until 3:30, while Serious Business can be heard again from 4:45 to 6 p.m. The London Laffguards will bring their stand-up conedy routine to the stage from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., and return for a ventriloquist act [nom 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. The Four Shadows will provide musical interlude from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p,m., and again from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Shawn Bonte's Children's Act will be held from 1:45. to 2:15 p.m.. followed by Dr. Wallace's Frog Jumping Contest will take place a1 3 p.m. at the Zurich Sunoco 'nation, a definite crowd pleaser. Dr. Wal- lace has once again thrown down the gauntlet., and youngsters every- where can be seen scurrying arourld Inc village scouring to. the best lumping amphibians. The Cloggers will take the main stage from 4:15 to 4:45 p.n.., while the whole day will be topped off with the annual Zurich Minor Ath- letic Assoctauoi Bean 1 -estival Dance.
