German heritage celebrated with 21st annual Friedsburg Days
Elvis was spotted >in
DashwoodSaturday
morning. In fact, he
was in the
Friedsburg. Days
parade. Some were
saying Elvis bore a
striking resemblance
to Bill Schade, but
the adoring fans on
board the float were
convinced the King
had :come to town.
With every parade, there must be spectators. Saturday
morning's Friedsburg Days parade had no shortage of appre-
ciative spectators as hundreds of people lined the route
through Dashwood. Here, the Dashwood-Seaforth Band get
cheered on their way.
The winners of the 4-8 month baby show at Dashwood's Friedsburg Days were third place
Matthew Philip of London (left), held by his mother Mamie, second place Brennan Willert of
London, held by her mother Tammy, and first place Megan Hutchison of Mississauga, held by
her mother Vickie. All contestants have relatives in the area.
Huron MPP Paul Klopp and former MPP Jack Riddell put aside their party affiliations and
team up for their try at the crosscut saw competition at Dashwood's Friedsburg Days Saturday'
afternoon. Believe it or not, the pair worked very well togiether.
Poster and colouring contest winners for the Friedsburg Days competition received their priz-
es Saturday afternoon. From left are Lindsey Love (grade one colouring), Rebecca Pickering
(grade three-four poster), Shawna Forrester (kindergarten colouring), and Judith Gardiner
(grade two colouring). Absent are first prize grade 5-6 poster winner Kerian O'Rourke, and
honourable mention winners Kristle Gallagher and Lindsey Green. Over 200 entries were re-
ceived for the competition, with the.finalists displayed on the wall behind these winners.
