CENTRALIA - There will be no
service at the United Church on
August 1. The following Sunday
August 9 a joint service will be
held at Centralia at 10 a.m.
Congratulations to Herman and
Pat Gower who celebrated their
25th wedding anniversary at the
community centre on Sunday.
We welcome Ron and Kelli Ken-
nedy and son Luke to their home
they purchased on Victoria St.
Perry and Nina Knee and family
returned home last week after a 12 -
day visit in Newfoundland.
Borden and Mary Smyth and Lar-
ry and Mary Cronyn returned home
after spending two weeks in the
Winnipeg area. While there they
visited with Mary's aunt
Von Overholt attend the christen-
ing of her great-grandchild Joshua
Anthony on Sunday, July 26 at St.
Boniface R.C. Church. Zurich.

VARNA - The 4-1-1 achievement
for the Varna club "Walk in the
Wild" was held last week at the
home of Sandra and David Turner.
Mavis Turner and Julie Consist
were the leaders. Chns McNaugh-
ton and Martina Eisenpries werc
the Youth Leaders and received
plaques in recognition of their
work. Eisenpnes also received an
award for completing six clubs,
her County- Honours. Bratda Con-
siu received her Provincial Hon-
ours for completing 12 clubs. Oth-
er members were Antje and
Martina Deuschle, Mary Anne
Hayter, Kelly Menem, Leisa and
Krista Mustard, Heather Beierling,
Kim Taylor, Heather and Valerie
Laurie, Amy Vanderhar, Jenny
Kaufman and Mary Coultis.
Each girl brought a parent with
them and they enjoyed a wiener
roast along with salads for supper.
"These girls enjoyed a campout in
June at the Wildwood near St.
Marys. They also had outdoor
hikes to Bannockburn and other
bushes.
Chris McNaughton and Martina
Eisenpnes gave everyone a first
aid demonstration on different sit-
uations one would run into when
hiking.
The girls found this club to be a
very worthwhile and enjoyable
club as well as a learning experi-
ence.
Please note the Varna -Goshen
Church Picnic to be held at the
Stanley Township Park on Sunday,
August 2 at 11 a.m. with a potluck
picnic to follow. Sunday August y
church will be in Varna at 10:3(
a.m. for both Varna -Goshen.
If anyone has any news this sum-
mer about their holiday or taps
please give me a ring by Sunday
evenings so it can be pnnted for
Monday morning.

Wrong location in articled
In the July 15 issue of the Times
Advocate, there was an error in an
article on thefts reported by the Ex-
eter OPP. ' The article stated that a
Mazda van was broken into at the
"Port Franks Conservation Area".
That should have read "Port Blake
Conservation Area". The
Advocate regrets the error.
