The Read Canada program travels around Huron, Perth and
Middlesex county giving weekly sessions of reading, games
and plays at libraries, swimming pools and day camps. The
Three Bears was the play being performed at the Huron

All these organizers could use
volunteers to sell the flowers,
priced at $3.50 per bunch or
c6 00 for two bunches.
When you see a volunteer,
please Stop and pick up some
gladiole to brighten your home or
cottage to support research into
epilepsy, a medical condition af-
flicting one in every 100 Canadi-
ans or 1 percent of the population
and about 100,000 people in On-
tario.
Medication allows for most
people with epilepsy to live nor-
mal lives, with very few restric-
tions, but more research is needed
for causes, treatment and possible
cure.

New parish centre for Grand Bend

GRAND BEND - Construction
has begun on a new parish centre
for lmmaculatc Heart of Mary
Church. The new hall will provide
one large and one small meeting
room, a kitchen and two wash-
rooms adjoining the church.
The heaung system will also be

STAFFA - Peggy Kerslake pre-
sided for the birthday meeting of
the Marian Ritchie W.M.S. of Cro-
marty Church, held last Tuesday
evening..
Kerslake opened the meeting
with a poem followed by a hymn
accompanied on the piano by Bet-
ty Lou Norris.
Joy Scott had the workshop ser-
vice taking her scripture from the
book of Leviticus, verses 33 to 44
and reading "Celebrating God's
Love" for her Devotions, followed
by prayer.
Twelve members answered the
roll call by running a special event
in the Bible which they enjoyed
celebrating, and telling why.
President, Edna Stoneman pre-
sided for the business, with Jean
Carey reading the previous min-
utes and Mary Elliott giving the
"Treasurers report.
Ruth Laing reported on the
Sprung Conference which was held
at Creif Hills, and which she had
attended. Members were asked if
they were interested in catering to
a wedding dinner in 1993.
Jean Carey had the study book
on Japan, telling about the Japa-
nese school system, which dates
back to Use thirteenth century.
Lillian Douglas had everyone
bring something made in Japan to
display and tell about. She also
told many interesting things about
Japan for her special number.
The Ladies Aid and Marian
Ritchie W.M.S. will meet jointly I

the Marian Ritchie. Members were
reminded that we arc guests of the
Britton group October 7. Kerslake
suggested a perennial exchange
and bake table at October meeting.
Joyce Fell has received word
from the Western Ontario Conser-
vatory of Music, that she received
First Class Honours, in her Grade
9 singing examination. She was
also succeastgl in ler written coon
terpoint examination. Since she
had previously completed history
and harmony examinations, she
now has completed the require-
ments to receive her (bade 4 theo-
ry certificate. Fell will be attend-
ing the University of Western
Ontario in September, studying,
Carrah Templeman, enjoyed this
past week, attending church camp at
Dennis, Beth, Megan, Katie, Kel-
sey and Brock Stewart, Penticton,
li,nush Columbia, are visiting with
relauves in Ontario and along with
Carol Stewart, Kitchener were over-
night guests with Rob and Bev Tem-
pleman and family.

Zurich seniors dine

ZURICH - Fifty Senior Diners at-
tended the Seniors Dinner at the
Community Centre last Wednes-
day.
Tammy Antaya welcomed every-
one, especially visitors. Gerrie'
Fleischauer read a poem, "Sum-
mer's Remembered".
Jayne Hayter of Dashwood ac-
companying herself on the piano,
sang two solos "in the Darden" and
"As A Deer".
Everyone joined in singing "How
Great Thou Art" and "Amazing
Grace".
Five tables of solo and euchre
were enjoyed.

Roffiell reunion
S1-11PKA - About 60 attended the
annual Russell reunion last Sunday,
at Seacliff Park, in Leamington.
From this area were Cliff and Vel-
ma Russell, of Dashwood, Doug and
Ann Russell, Bruce and Judy Rus-
sell and Don and Ann Russell and
their families, all of Shipka area.
Other relatives attended from Cot -
tam, Essex, Strathroy, Windsor, De-
troit and Kingston. Several enjoyed
a swim in Lake Eric.
Sympathy is expressed to Oscar
Miller, and his family, in the death
of his wife Laura, last week. Funeral
service was Tuesday from T. Harry
Hoffman Funeral Home. Pallbearers
were Don Rader, Andy Anderson,
Larry Weido, Earl Keller, Jake
Schroeder and Albert Rader.
Coleman reunion
Hugh and Annie Morenz attended
the 42 annual Coleman reunion held
last Sunday at Seaforth Community
Park. About 50 were in auendance
coming from areas of Zurich, Lon-
don, Seaforth, Belmont, Mitchell,
Burlington, Varna, Clinton, Hano-
ver and Auburn.
An interesting line of sports in-
cluded a scavenger hunt, running
and relay races, kicking shoes far-
thest and water balloon toss.
Special prizes were awarded to
oldest lady, Bernice Richardson, of
London, wedding anniversary prizes
went to Art and Mary Finlayson - 50
years, and Elsie and Jim Moore - 25
years.
Two -week-old Connie Finlayson
was youngest attending, coming far-
thest distance was Diane March,
Burlington, jelly bean guess won by
Gladys Doig and Breu Finlayson.
The executive for the Coleman re
union in 1994 arc president Ivan
McClymont, secretary - Margaret
McClymont, treasurer, Mary Finlay-
son, sports by the Doig family.
On the way home from the Cole-
man picnic Anne and Hugh Morenz
stopped in Kippen to visit our
youngest great nephew, three -week-
old Brandon William, son of John
and Carol Coleman.
