Second Terry Fox
Run set for Zurich

ZURICH - The second annual
Terry Fox Run for Zurich and area
will -be held on Sunday. September
20; rain or shine. The event will
begin with registration at Zurich
Park at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is en-
couraged to participate, bring the
family and join in on the fun to
raise money for cancer research.
The eight kilometre route starts
at the park, goes west to Highway
84 to Goshen road, north to the
town line intersection and back.
Drinks will be available along the
route.
Prizes donated by area businesses
will be awarded to top pledge earn-
ers in different age categones. A
barbecue is planned for immediate-
ly after the run.
If you are interested in helping in
any way to keep Terry's dream
alive, please call organizer Wendy
Rowan at 263-2214. Pledge sheets
will be available at the Zurich Fair
booth where T-shirts and buttons
will also be on sale.
Zurich Fair
Be sure to attend the annual Zu-
rich Fair this weekend which be-
gins with the parade Friday night
July 24 and ends with a horse show
Sunday.
While in town for the fair, check
out the garage and bake sale held at
St. Boniface Catholic Church on
Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Neighbourhood watch
A special meeting wilt be held
Wednesday, July 22 at the Hay
township hall beginning at 7 p.m.
to make plans for a neighbourhood
watch program for the village of
Zurich, sponsored by the Optimist
Club and Exeter OPP constable
George Finch. Please plan to at-
tend as everyone's help is needed.
Blue Water
The weather cooperated for the
yard and bake salt held at the Blue
Water Rest Home Saturday. The
event was a large success thanks•w
the many donations and volunteer
helpers compnsed of staff, direc-
tors and auxiliary members. Profits
will go towards the completion of a
sidewalk from the home into Zu-
rich.
Bishop holds mass
1t was a surprise and honor as
Bishop John Sherlock attended
mass at St Boniface Church on
Sunday as he is spending some
time at his cottage in the Grand
Bend area. He also said mass at St.
Peter's Church Friday in Si. Joseph.
Animal antics
Several children from Zurich be-
tween the ages of 5-10 years are en-
joying the summer reading pro-
gram, animal antics. at the library
everyThursday afternoon with li-
brarian Helene Ducharme.

Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery to Sylvia Smale, in hospital in
Exeter following a car accident.
Larry and Marion Rogers cele-
brated their 20th wedding anniver-
sary. A surprise party of over 130
guests was held at the Lutheran
Church hall in Zurich Sunday, giv-
en by her mother Gertie Fleis-
chauer.
Dick and Barb Rau are celebrat-
ing their 25th anniversary.
Maureen Masse and Robert Ley -
ser were married Saturday at Si. Pe-
ters Church in St Joseph. Maureen
is the daughter of Louis and Cathe-
rine Masse.
Welcome to town Matthew and
Martha Ducharme who have moved
to the former home of the late Al-
fred Meidinger on Mary St.
Also, welcome Doug and June
Schadc and daughter who have
moved to Edward St. .
The fifth annual Oke Woodsmith
Company staff party was held Sat-
urday hosted by Don and $euy
Okc. The day began at Bayview
Golf Course followed by a barbe-
cue at Black Bush school house.
John and Bernadette Denomme
spent a week with their son Mark
and Mary Theresa Denomme at
their cottage on Manitoulin Island.
Victor and Irene Hartman spent
the weekend in Detroit visiting
daughter Theresa and Gary Egan.
Martin, and Cheryl Gelinas visit-
ed with his sister Sharon and Keva
Silverstein in Londoh Sunday.

Picnic in the rain
CREDITON - Huron South Dis-
trict held their second annual picnic
at Crediton wider the rain shgwers.
Lois Hodgins, president stood on
the table banging a large pan to call
everyone for dinner. The group
sang the Institute Ode, repeated the
Mary Stewart Collect and sang the
institute. Grace before sitting down
to lunch
Seaforth and Elimvillc conducted
contests. Some of the highlights
were: Most lace on your slip was
paraded by Martha Weigand and
how Irene Haugh carries all those
things in her purse is a wonder.
Eleanor Roessler was celebrating
her birthday at the picnic. A very
interesting relay, find the gold safe-
ty pins in the oatmeal dish while
blindfolded proved very humorous.
Faith Tabernacle news
CENTRALIA - Drizzling rain
and threatening skies didn't stop the
Faith Tabernacle Sunday School on
Monday evening from playing an
exciting game of soccer -baseball.
The rain stopped in time to enjoy
hotdogs and pop and then it was
back to the diamond again for game
two!
The Youth Group met on Friday
evening and headed down to Lon-
don to Masonvilie to play miniature
golf. A good time was reported to
have been had by all.
Earl Miller and Tony Vanderlaan
representing the Gideons, minis-
tered on Sunday morning.
This Sunday morning Kai Pinto
will be ministering and "the Na-
tions" will be providing music un-
der the open skips at the new
church property in the evening ser-
vice.
The Secret Sisters are hosting
"Family Mini Golf" on Friday
night. Meet at the church at 6:45.
