HOMECOMING
Homesteads beautified
for the celebrations
ne of the events going on
in Usborne Township to
celebrate 150 years is the
Home Beautification" Con-
test. The organizers Don
and Jean Easton wanted to
have a contest where the
participants didn't need to
spend a lot of money to be
involved and have a fair chance
with the other contestants.
Categories for judging: best maintained
farmstead, best maintained single dwelling
on 1 acre or less, and best rural entrance
way on 1 acre or more.
Final judging takes place at the end of
June. Watch for display of entrants in the
main hall at South Huron Recreation
Centre on Saturday, July 25.

Lots of memories
from the past
®n Saturday July 25th from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. there
will be pictures, antiques, and memorabilia from
Usbome's past to view in the hall of the Exeter Rec Centre.
There will be 5 different sections: Schools, Churches,
Homes, family History, and Tweedsmuir History of the In-
stitutes.
Pictures will be there from the 13 original school sections
and our present Usborne Central School. Seating will -be
provided to visit with your friends from the school. you at-
tended.
The present and past churches will be remembered with
old bibles, scrap books, and of course pictures from yester-
years.
Our homes section will have antiques: washing ma-
chines, kitchen equipment, clothes, quilts, past bathroom
facilities, furniture, etc.
Family displays will have heirlooms, dishes and clothes
of individual Usborne families.
Institutes will be displaying their Tweedsmuir History
books. Give yourselves lots of time to view these farm his-
tones, and a wealth of information they have gathered.
Comc and join us at the Rec Centre on the afternoon of
the 25th for fellowship and to reminisce.
