July 14 - 1982 - The name of Exeter's Riverview Rork has
been changed to honour Exeter's own Charles MacNaughton
who held more cabinet posts than any other minister in the his-
tory of the province of Ontario.
Huron Ag Rep Don Pullen is the first recipient of the newly
inaugurated Distinguished )3xtension Workers award presented
by the Canadian Society of Extensionists.
The federal government will pay $60,000 to dredge the har-

July 13, 1967 - Safe crackers made off with about $6,000 in
cash and cheques when they broke into Darling's IGA early

Thomas Appleton of Exeter at the age of 87 was one of the
oldest Orangemen to walk in the Orange celebration at London.
Although he was only trying to meet the public demand,
Frank Bayne, owner of the Arlington Hotel in Parkhill was sent
to jail for three months for keeping liquor for sale. A dozen
well-known Parkhill farmers and businessmen were fined $20
oath ibrides on therfees.

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Jim All-
sop, the new minister, was in
charge of the church service on
Sunday morning at Etinivillc. The
congregation sang the doxology
"Spirit- of the Living God". The
choir sang an anthem accompanied
by the organist Marjorie Johns.
Rev. Allsop told the children a
story "The Good Samaritan".
The minister spoke Worts of Re-
membrance for the Cemetery Deco-
ration service. The congregation
sang "The Strife is O'er". Prayers
commemorating the departed were
given by Rev. Allsop.
The Scripture Lessons were read
from Colossians 1:1-14 and Luke
10:25-37 and the sermon was enti-
tled "Who is My Neighbour?" After
the service each person was given a
carnation and they placed them on
the graves in the cemetery.

Hodgert picnic
The 67th annual reunion of the
Hodgert Clan was held on Saturday
at the Kinsmen Pavilion in FIpOsa11.
Eighty-two people attended for
the noon meal and 105 were vomit-
ed at supper time.
Jamie Hern guessed the number
of Strrarttcs in a jar. and Lois Hod-
gen guessed Scott Hodgert's weight
in stones.
