Friedsburg Days keep community spirit alive
Friedsburg Days will return to the Dashwood community July 31 -August 2, once again inject- ' Thanks to community effort, a second set of playground equipment has also been erected in

DASHWOOD - With the return
of Friedsburg Days in Dashwood
slated for the July 31 weekend, a
strong community spirit is once
again thriving.
The three day event aimed at cel-
ebrating "A Blast From Our Past"
is chock full of activities, geared to
incorporate the Stephen Township
Sesquicentennial and Canada's
125th Birthday.
Preparations have been well un-
der way for quite some tune, and
the community involvement has
been at the very least terrific, say
organizers. But the celebration
will be more than just that. While
many understand the hard work
and money that go into such a pro-
ject, there are many who aren't
aware of the benefits which come
out of it.
"We've always received a lot of
donations from -the commtmity in
the past, but we've -come to realize
that many aren't sure exactly what
that money is used for," confirmed
Kathy Hayter, a coordinator for this
year's Friedsburg Days.
Money is donated by several
business associations, recreational
trains, hall boards and many ser-
vice groups, while labour is also
provided for many new projects.
For example, improvements to the
Dashwood community have come
m the form of new curtains and
flowers for the commtmity centre
and various plant boxes erected w
spruce up the town.
In addition two of the most no-
ticeable additions have been sets of
playground equipment, erected by
volunteers at both the park and ball
diamond areas.
"1t all came from money raised in
the community, and several groups
had a hand in the construction,"
confirmed Hayter.
Once again, residents and busi-
nessmen of they corrnmunity have
been very generous for this year's
event, which promises to be bigger
and better than ever.
