STAFFA - Margaret Kemp host-
ed the International meeting of the
Staffa Women's institute in the
township hall last Wednesday eve-
ning when the guest speaker was
Robin Daynard, who; told us by
word and picture about his recent
trip to Bangladesh, where he ob-
served their potato -industry.
Daynard was introduced by Mar-
garet Kemp and thanked by Vere
Mahon.
President Joyce Miller presided,
welcoming everyone and opening
with the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. Miller also
thanked the Staffa branch for send-
ing her to the workshop in Central-
ia College recently.
There were 23 members and visi-
tors present and the roll call was
answered by naming a country that
did not appear on the map of the
world 50 years ago, and telling
where it was located. Not all had
done our homework.
Freda Kerslake gave two humor-
ous readings for her "smiles".
Margaret Kemp had an interest-
ing display set up on Canada: Eve-
ryone received a Canadian flag pin
and a maple leaf, upon arrival.
Kemp also read "Our Heritage"
written by Laura Dickson and
played a Red Skelton tfpe, a tribute
to O Canada.
There will not be a W.I. meeting
in July, but members are reminded
of a car trip to Masonvjlle and Arva
flour mills the last week in August.
The meeting was adjourned with
the singing of 0 Canada'.
