Stephen Township Soliloquy
I'm proud to be a farmer, from Stephen Township
Where I was born and raised from my very first day
When 1 meet the Saints and go to Heaven
They'll have to raise me up from that Stephen clay.
i've been so richly blessed with responsible parents
Responsible neighbors. teachers and family ,
They taught me the dignity of honest labour,
And the truth all gifts in life don't come for free.
The wealth of Stephen Township is its people,
And the homes they built from its timber and its clay,
The farms were drained with tile from the clay beds,
And the bricks are still in use in homes today.
Fertile sod and umber brought the pioneers,
Through artenes over ocean, lakes and streams,
Together they cleared and worked their homesteads.
And shared their neighbours' hopes and their family dreams
The base at Centraha airport taught the legions of those
from the commonwealth who learned to fl)
If we forget their sacrifice and suffering.
Then the freedom that they won will surely dic.
The Union screamed their name to fame and glory,
They even told the pohce where they could go.
Now its members reap the riches of their folly,
When the company moved their Jobs to Mexico.
Then as nuw people leaked the future. 4
Disease and war and life s uncertainty .
Then as now the Bible holds the answer.
"Fear not the truth will set you free'
The sands o[ ane keep cfuueong on Lake Hurur.
A jewel in the crown of Stephens western shun
Bs sunsets rate the best ui radiant splendor,
It's the key to site futures thirst and a whole lot mute
Ifs unie we thanked the Lord for Stephen "Iownsh'e.
Though pastern; green may beckon some away .
We hope they fid the treasures of their seeking.
And bong deem home to share with us someday
Lite is still the sante as in the beginning,
Be t:areful who you follow like Adieu and Eve.
The "Garden of Stephen" is our children's winnings.
They'll reap what we sow and what we leave
Yes' - They'll reap what we give and what we leave.
