Catholic
teachers to
job -share
LONDON - In an effort to save
employment for teachers who have
received redundancy notices the
London and Middlesex County Ro-
man Catholic School Board has en-
dorsed a proposal to set up a job
sharing plant.
Administration reported to the
Board at its regular meeting Mon-
day night at the Monsignor Feeney
Centre .that currently there are 68
full time equivalent staff who have
yet to be recalled following receipt
of their redundancy notice. It is an-
ticipated that there will be 45 posi-
tions available, mostly at the secon-
dary level. It was suggested that if
an appropriate job sharing plan was
developed it might be possible to
bring all teachers who have re-
ceived notice back intathe system.
The plan calls for administration
to prepare a job sharing plan that
would enable all terminated teach-
ers to be recalled for at least 50 per-
cent of the teaching time beginning
September 1, 1992. The plan would
then be diacussed with O.E.C.T.A.
and A.EF.O. unit executive and the
terminated teachers prior to its im-
plementation.
The plan was adopted by the
Board as an alternative to using a
lottery method to match the availa-
ble openings with the remaining
teachers.
