asmuch as tho anuouneement of the
opening, in which particulars are given
as to the tornui on .which mils will
be aCeepted, has only been published in
the leading city daily papers, we pre-
sume it is not the intention of the Gov-

the sons of ordinary farmers, but rather
frow.the swell chaps whoa() da-daha are
"some punkins," and can afford to sub-
seribe for a daily paper, andkeep a

if the institution is to be of any service
however, students will -have to be ob-
tained from amongst the hard -fisted
sonsef'toil and not from the "aw-dem-

also to say that we think the Ontario
Governinont has displayed a miserable
cheese -paring policy, and one which no
business man would follow who was de-
sirous of making sueh announcement
as the one indicated, generally known.
In saying so, wo do not wish it to be
understood that we crave after Govern-
ment pap, as we feel thankful to declare
that we can get along very well with-
out it—as we have done for tho past
twenty years. But in case there may
be room for the sons of any of the "or-
dinary kusses," as Artemus would have
said, we may state that applications
must be sent in no later than the 25t1I
of 'April, and that for the first year
board the tuition are to be providedfree
and each pupil who makes proper pro-
ficiency is to receive $50 in money at
the year's end—with a gentle admoni-

gra tir. for nothing., but after he has tak-
en his degree it would be worse than
folly for him to start a country Reform

to elect Reform members to support a

enough out of a Reform Government
