HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes Advocate, 1992-06-03, Page 7Children's Day service at Crediton UC, Sunday CREDITON - Members of the Sunday School of Zion United Church in Crediton will be in charge of Sunday's Children's Day service at 10 a.m. . A special puppeteer will be helping to conduct the service with stories from the Bible. A pot luck lunch will follow. This past Sunday morning, the St. Marys Children's choir entertained for the annual anniversary service. The guest speaker was Rev. Craig Railton of the United Church 'of Canada: He spoke on "Stewardship". Choir practice is cancelled for this week. Members of the Explorer and C.G.I.T. groups will provide the program for Thursday night's regular meeting of the United Church Women at 8 p.m. A second lawn sale of the season will be held at the church Saturday morning starting at 8.30 a.m. It will be held in conjunction with family yard sales on King street south and north. The youth group of the church will hold a meeting Sunday night at 7 p.m. Vacation Bible School is set for July 27 to 31. Tlmes-Advocate, June 9, 1992 tttu�. Page 7 er rwa rrn+rr StMfa by Roberta Templeman STAFPA - New president, Joyce Miller presided for the May meet- ing of the Staffa Women's Institute, held in the township hall last Wednesday evening with 13 mem- bers present. Miller opened the meeting with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect and a reading "The Little Country Things". Everyone answered the roll call by naming a good thing in life that is free. During business Margaret Kemp and Margaret Daynard volunteered _-to-Set up the Institute's display at Mitchell Fair on Treasures from the Past. Kay Smale reported on the Dis- trict Annual held recently at St. Paul's with over 80 in attendance. Doris Miller and Roberta Tem- pleman were In charge of a silent auction of plants, and crafts which realized over $40 for a project to be decided on. The meeting closed with a social hour when lunch was served by Lil- lian Douglas and Grace Kerslake. Hibbert United Church held a sale of clothing, furniture, dishes, crafts and baking on Saturday, with a good response from the public. Personals Chuck and Dorothy Ebel, Gode- rich visited on Sunday with Rob and Bev Templeman and family. Lisa is the daughter of Lawrence and Madeline Ziler, Dashwood. Congratulations Lisa from your family. Graduate - On May 30, 1992, Trevor Larry Ratz graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario -where he received an Honours Bache- lor of Arts Degree in Econom- ics with Finance and Account- ing Option. He has accepted a position with Arthur & An- derson & Company;--Char- tered ompany,..Char- tered Accountants in Toronto, Ontario. Trevor is a Grade 13 graduate of South Huron Dis- trict High School. Sincere congratulations from your family and friends! Exeter Dining for►Seniors EXETER - Approximately 60 Seniors enjoyed a delicious dinner at Dining for Seniors on May S. Jean Hodgert played keyboard. Ben Charier was a guest from Mon- treal. Four draw prizes were won by Jean Allen, Gladys Skinner, Jean Roloson and Ed Roberts. En- tertainers were Harriet Vander- burght and Dianne Miller with songs and guitar. On May 12 Florence Finkbeiner presided at keyboard. Draw prize was won by Humphrey Arthur. Pat and Grant led us in our sing song, and games were played in the north hall. All were welcomed by Jeanne Gladding on May 19. Josie Ryck- man played i iWiliR - for the sen- iors' listening plesire. Draw prizes were won by Josie Ryckman and Vera Mills.{ Flowers for the tables were donated by Josie. Pat and Grant led insong. Beryl Glenn and Alma Langford were guests. On May 26 four birthdays were celebrated. Helen Roberts and Grant Mills won the draw prizes. Harry Shepard entertained with dancing wood puppets accompa- nied by his wife Ruth on keyboard. 4s of June 1 the Exeter Commu- nity Adult Drop In will be changed to Mondays from 9:00-1:00. The Poor Boys Lunch will be held the last Monday of the month. On June 9 the Osborne School Primary Choir will perform at the dining programme. Como out and join in these programmes.
