will be having their June meeting
and picnic supper for the residents
June 2 beginning at 2 p.m.
CWL meet
The CWL membership dues of
Si. Boniface Parish are now being
collected at all three masses this
weekend. If you missed, please

Council attended the annual con-
vention held in , Toronto over the
long weekend at the Constellation
Hotel.
Those "attending the Knights of
Columbus 4th degree convention
held in Windsor last week at the
Hilton Hotel from Blessed Andre
Council, Seaforth were, Mozart
and Marie Gelinas and Phil Durand
of -Zurich, along with Rene and
Alice Bmchu of Clinton.
Blue Jays
Members of the. Lutheran Church
enjoyed a bus trip to Toronto Fri-
day to see the Toronto Blue Jays
play ball.
Cubs, scoots
The Zurich Scouts and Cubs,
along with the help of leaders and
parents, recently planted over 300
trees along the fence line property
of MPP Paul Klopp's farm.
Baseball registration
If anyone missed signing up their
children for baseball they can do so

T -ball, ages 4-6 and 5 -pitch, ages
6-8, begin on Thursday June 25
from 7-8 p.m. at the Zurich Public
School. Those ages 8-10 may join
the in -town team - on Saturday
morning at 11 a.m. It starts May 30
at the ball diamond and registration
is S10 per child.

Several relatives attended the
wedding of Connie Overholt and
Steven Fowler in London last Sat-
urday. The bride is the daughter of
Mmette Overholt and the late
George Overholt.
Kim Bedard and Michael Foster
were united in marriage at SL Boni-
face Church in Zurich Saturday.
The bride is the daughter of Dick
and Beue Bedard.
A bridal shower was held recent-
ly for Nadine Smith, daughter of
Gord and Cecilia. Nadine is the fi-
ance of Ray Chong and the couple
will be married in Zurich on June
20.
Pat and Evelyn Regier were
thrilled with the arrival of a grand-
. daughter, .born to Jim and Marlene
Regier of Barrie.
Willy and Martha Overholt cele-
brated their 35th anniversary Mon-
day.
Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr.
will celebrate their 40th anniver-
sary May 24.
Earl and Anne Flaxbard celebrat-
ed their 47th wedding anniversary
last Tuesday. A special gift was
the arrival of their first great grand-
child, Jacob Ross, born to Lori and
Bill Warner.
Wishes for a speedy recovery are
extended to Cameron Becker, son

ning for a planning meeting.

Annual last Tuesday in St. Pauls,
were Joyce Miller, Kay Smale,
Marjorie Drake and Roberta Tem-

Violence.
They invited Karen Haucock, a
worker at Optimism Place, to speak
about the workings of this home .

ZURICH - Fifty-four Senior Diners enjoyed a chicken dinner
Wednesday at the Community Centre.
Tammy Antaya welcomed everyone and Marion Becker gave a
reading "Song -on a May Morning". Gwen McKellar read a pc
"Rural Life has Charm".
Earl and Martha Heywood of Wingham, assisted by Lloyd Ouerb-
ein of Zurich, entertained the diners with music, singing and magic.
HappyBirihday was sung for Martha.

Using slides, video, oral presenta-
tion, as well as open discussion,
Haucock enlightened everyone on
the problems, needs and outlook of
victims of violence, who are we-
clome to the safety of Optimism
Place for a period of six weeks,
during which time they are given a
safe home, support, counselling and
encouragement to face life on their
own.
The United Church Women have
supported Optimism Place in vari-
ous ways since its opening, so it
was rewarding to learn of the work-
ings of it.
Margaret Kemp chaired the busi-
ness. The annual Strawberry Sup-
per will ,take place June 10. A com-
mittee wasappointedto handle the
initial plans for a shower.

Information was brought to the
meeting regarding projects, future
meetings, camps, and the special
June Diggidy Dog Picnic at the
church on June 17 at 11:30 a.m. for
the pre schoolers and their mothers
as well as women of the congrega-
tion. Mothers might like to bring
some toys to amuse the children.
This will also be the occasion of
the only summer meeting. Plan to
attend. Lunch supplied.
The quitters will conclude their
activities next week. It has been a
busy, but happy experience to meet
weekly in such a friendly group.
Rob, Bev, Carrah, Cain, Cohen
and Colbey Templeman, spent the
long weekend at a cottage near Tob-
ennory.
