Sandcastle building plans PORT BLAKE - The 1992 Ontario Open Sandcastle Build- ing Competition will be held on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 on the beach at the Port Blake Conservation Area. On Saturday teams of five persons, any age, will compete for the best sandcastle and the most artistic sculpture. On Sun- day individuals will try their skills for the same categories. Programs for families and children are being organized. For further information call 238-8434. Mother's Day Dinner theme By Gertie Fleischauer ZURICH - Fifty diners enjoyed a Mother's Day beef dinner last Wednesday at the Community Cen- tre, which was decorated in a yel- low and white theme. Helen Otterbein read a poem on "Tulips". A Mother's Day poem was given by Gwen McKeller. A beautiful • musical programme was given by Myraline Desjardine on the accordion, Leona McBride on.ppet.and Mozart Gelinas on the guitar.. euchre followed with these results: High - lee Regier, 2nd High - Cathy Clark; Low - Leila Becker; Lone Hands - Harold Smith. Zurich W.L. ZURICH - The Zurich Women's Institute held their May meeting in the township hall last Monday with thirteen members in attendance. The meeting began with the Ode and the Mary Stewart Collection. The topic of discussion for the eve- ning was agriculture. The group discussed the environ- mental problems that have arisen due to the acid rain caused by the chemicals used by industry and farming . Sheep raising was also covered. Following the reports from last months meeting, it was decided to sell the crib quilts at the bean festi- val. The Annual District meeting report was read by Ina Neeb and Mary Munn.
