EXETER - Down 1-0 early in lf, the Exeter Centennials could not recover and lost their Western Ontario SoocerLeaguesecond di- vision game 4-2 to visiting Bluewater. Defense was the biggest problem the Centennials had on Sunday at the Canners Field as a quicker opposition were able to beat the Exeter full- backs. "We're not playing together out there. We have a lot of new players and it shows," said player -coach Dick Lord. Bluewater scored first but it was tied when Charlie Wise netted the Cen- tennials inaugural goal of 1992. A quick shot past Craig Winbow and it was 2-1 at the half for the visitors. "There was a lack of hustle. We have to go to the ball like they did," said Lord. In the second half, the visitors built a comfortab &3-1 lead and with 30 seconds left in the game, Chuck Walker scored on a penalty kick after be- ing hauled down in the 18 -yard box. While the Centennials struggled in their fust game, the future of senior soccer in Exeter looks promising. Lord explained that the 18 -and -under team did not have a league to play m so they attempted to get into the second division with the Centennials. "The league turned them down, it was too late," he said. He said he hopes to see two teams in town next year. Now he has 19 signed and can dress only 16 per game. Lord said the younger players are welcome to practice with the Centennials.
