RoyIs bats hot, win two games
EXETER - The Exeter Royals
bantam boys fastball _ team seemed
to be pleased with playing in the
South Perth Fastball League as they
won both of their recent games.
Switching to the new league, the
Royals travelled to St. Pauls on
May 4 for their opener and beat
host Downie 12-7. Ben Armstrong
and Steve Stare led the way with
three hits each.
Starting pitcher Dennis Gower
gave up six.runs on four hits while
striking out three. Steve Cook came
in and picked up the win as he
walked three but struck out eight.
The next night in Exeter, the host
Royals beat Shakespeare 10-5
thanks in part to Gavin Snell's three
hits. Cook pitched six innings,
walking three and striking out 13
before giving way to Gower who
did not allow a run in the seventh
and final frame.

EXETER - The South Huron Dis-
tract High School junior boys soc-
cer team remained undefeated in
Huron -Perth league action on Fri-
day as they blanked visiting ,.St.
Marys 6-0.
Providing the offense were Jeff
Lingard, Mark Foster, Gavin Snell,
Colin Bowers, Brian McAllister
and Jamie Dougall.
Goalie Darren Kints preserved
the shutout with a diving save in
the final minute.
Soccer action continues when the
girls' teams host Stratford North-
western on Thursday and the boys
go to Stratford St. Mike's on Fri-
day.

Recreation Department is offering a
3 -Man Basketball Tournament on
Saturday at the Exeter Public
School and the South Huron Recre-
ation Centre outdoor courts.
Tournament organizers are look-
ing for 12 teams in the High School
category and 12 teams of Grades 6,
7.8.
If enough interest is shown in the
game, a 3 -man basketball rec.

South Huron District High School.
