The Apf fel PTA raised around $10,000 for a new playground for their school. The
playground money was raised from community Involvement and local donations. 'Shown, I to r,
after finishing the assembly are volunteers Robert Masse, Matt Rolland, Don Russell, Randy
Harrigan, Glen Steeper, John Gielen and Ken Masse. Missing was Matt Muller.
Granton WI members meet
GRANTON - Granton WI mem-
bers met at the home of Nora Wis-
sel .last Tuesday to plan the pro-
gram for the ensuing year. Later,
several WI members attended the
Salvation Army Ladies Night din-
ner in St. Marys.
The ladies of Court Valentine Fo-
rester's Lodge enjoyed dinner in St.
Marys last Monday. Edith Kestic
won the prize for a game that was
played and arrangements were
trade for Marie Hiuser and Doris
Spence to serve the Lion's Club

Get well wishes are extended to
Ilabelle Harlton who is a patient in
St. Marys Memorial Hospital. Nu-
merous Granton residents enjoyed
the Shriner's Chicken barbecue at
the St. Marys Community Centre
on Saturday evening.
The Anglican parish Bible study
group met at the home of Pat Cor-
nish in Kirkton on Tuesday after-
noon.
At the St- !Thomas' Anglican
Church on Sunday the Reverend
Stephen Emery's message was
about being a disciple of Jesus
Christ.
Robert Parkinson read the lessons
and Kaylene Roloson assisted as
server.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Leroy Bryan, Clerk of the
Session, led the service. and April
Bryan took charge of the Children's
time.
The guest speaker, Lena Esch-
truth, was introduced by her cousin
Lloyd Mardlin, told about what is
happening in Zaire, Africa. Bach -
truth, who has spent most of her
life as a missionary there is current-
ly home in I?etroit and will be re-
tuming to Zaire assoon as her safe-.

The anthem "Anchored in its
Word" was sung by the choir.
The Granton Bethel Youth Group
sponsored a successful dessert thea-
ter at the church on Friday evening
to provide funds for a youth retreat
in the summer.
The members of UCW Unit 2

Show and Clothing party at the
church last Tuesday evening.

Convention

GRAND BEND - The Catholic
Women's League of the London Di-
ocese held their annual Convention
in Sarnia on April 28-29, at the
Canterbury Inn. Over 380 members
and voting delegates, from Windsor
to Stratford attended the Conven-
tion, which reflected the 1992
theme: "Parish - A Family of the
Local Church."
The convention was attended by
Grand Bend CWL president Cathy
Vrolyk and past president Roberta
Walker, as voting delegates. Eight
other members also attended on the
second day of convention and/or
came to The -banquet, representing
the council of Immaculate Heart of
Mary parish.
