Morgan, Gardner off to OFSAA badminton championships
EXETER - South Huron District
High School will be represented at
this year's OFSAA badminton
championships in Milton later this
week.
Beginning Thursday, Panthers'
Becky Morgan and Chris Gardner
will compete in the senior mixed
doubles provincial finals. The duo
gained a berth at OFSAA atter cap -

South Huron tied for first place
with Woodstock Huron Park for the
senior team .tide as Kerry Manders
and Carrie Oke won a bronze med-
al in the girls' doubles event.
The junior team placed second
overall to Listowel at the Huron
Perth meet last Tuesday. Ryan Stu-
art won the gold medal in boys' sin-
gles while Candace Miller and
Chrissy Morgan were first in girls'
doubles.
At WOSSA, Stuart was first in
the boys' singles while Miller and
Morgan teamed also took home the
gold medal to help the Panthers to a
second place team title effort.
There is no OFSAA champion-
ship for juniors.
Consolation winners: The Pan-
th$rs battled the rain on Saturday to
win their own senior girls soccer
tonnutment by defeating London
Mbntcalm 2-1.
Sharon DeBruyn scored the win-
ner oh a direct kick just outside of
the box. Becci Farquhar also scorod
on:a run down the left side and she
converted a high shot into the cor-
net.
The Panthers opened with a 1-0
win over London Central on Pc-
Bruyn's goal and a Lisa Triebner
shutout and then it was 2 -lin a
shootout over London Westminster
as Amy Campbell, Angela Gould,
Farquhar and DcBruyn scored.
The only loss was a 1-0 defeat to
West Elgin who went to the finals
where they lost 1-0 to Regina Mun-
di.
Seniors win twice: In senior
boys' Huron -Perth play, McAllis-
ter, Ryan Hem and Bounma Chan-
samone scored in a 3-2 win over
Wingham's Madill on Wednesday.
Two days later in Exeter, McAl-
lister fired a pair in a big 6-0 win
over Clinton's Central Huron. Hem,
Nick Szabo, Dan Mavens and
Mark Brintnell also scored.
Juniors undefeated: The defend-
ing Huron -Perth champs have now
gone six games in a row without al-
lowing a goal, dating back to last
year's quaver -finals, and haverun
their 1992 record to 3-0.
In Wingham on Wednesday, Jeff
Lingard and McCann scored in a 2-
0 win.
On Friday, Sean McCann, Sou -
ban Inlakhana and Marie Foster
scored in a 3-0 win over Central
Huron.
