Hopping like Easter Bunnies were students from the Tinker
Tots Nursery School in Exeter. On Wednesday, they had a
Hop-A-Thon in which they hopped for two minutes and raised
$1, 750 for Muscular Dystrophy.
Good Friday service at Thames Road

THAMES ROAD - A good
crowd attended the Good Friday
evening church service at Elim-
ville. Irene Richardson, lay minis-
ter, was in charge of the service.
The choir sang "The Old Rugged
Cross" accompanied by the organ-
ist Marjorie Johns.
Richardson read the Scripture
Lesson Isaiah 52:13-53:12 and
John 19:17-30. Her sermon was en-
titled "It is Finished". Rev. Bill
Jones of Kirkton-Woodham Pasto-
ral Charge conducted the commun-
ion service with Helen Weston,
Anne Kernick, Ray Cann and Floyd
Cooper serving communion. Bruce
Delbridge and Bill Rohde received
the offering.
The lilies in the church were
placed there in memory of Bruce
and Violet Cooper, Alvin and Lil-
lian Cooper, Russell Morley by
Floyd and Shirley Cooper and fam-
ily; Henry and Hellen Delbridge,
Horace Delbridge by Lavona Del -
bridge and family.
Easter Sunday morning service
A marvelous crowd attended the
joint Easter breakfast and church
service on Sunday morning at
Thames Road. Irene Richardson
conducted the service. The choir
sang two anthems "Song of Easter"
and "Easter Bells" accompanied by
the organist Agnes Bray.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn "Walk Softly in
Springtime" and Richardson gave
the children's message "The Easter
Egg" and read the Scripture Lesson
Isaiah 65:17-25, John 20:1-18. Her
sermon was entitled "He Lives".
The flowers in the church were
placed there in memory of the late
Kay Cann. Easter lilies were placed
there in loving memory of Reg
Hodgert by Jean Hodgert and fami-
ly; and in memory of Robert Cann
by Ray and Alice Cann.
On Sunday, April 26 the Oddfel-
lows and Rebekahs will share in the
worship service at Thames Road.
There will be a joint session
meeting on April 29 at Elimville at
8 p.m.
Sunday, May 3 is Rural Life Sun-
day.
Monday, May 4 at 8 p.m. the
United Church Women will hold
their meeting with Margaret
McCarter, Jean Hodgert, Doris El-
ford and Anne Kernick in charge.
Roll call is to bring a small plant
for exchange.
The Official Board meeting of
Thames Road Church is on May 6
at 8 p.m.

the holiday weekend with Lorne
and Pat Ballantyne.
Barbara Miller of Toronto spent
the weekend at her home here.
Many people from this area
called at the Hopper -Hockey Funer-
al Home, Exeter last week to pay
their respect to the late Kay Cann
and also attended her funeral on
Thursday, Sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to the relatives.
Bill and Rhoda Rohde were Sun-
day supper guests with Glenn, Mar-
ilyn, Danny and Tammy.

SHIPKA - Eleven .tables were in
action at the .euchre .pattty.held last
Wednesday evening at Shipka
Community Centre. Scores at tlose
of play were: Ladies high - Grace
Wurm; Ladies low - Aileen Rav-
elle; Mens high - Emil Becker,
Mens low - Walter Weber, Most
lone hands for ladies won by Mar -id
garet Lawson, with Norman Breen
the men's lone hands winner.
The north group were in charge
and served a smorgasbord lunch.
Harold Finkbeiner announced
that this was the last euchre for this
season and thanked the folks for
their attendance.
Annual meeting
Fifteen attended the annual meet -
performs Easter musical rng at Shipka Community Centre
on April 14. Officers elected were
CENTRALIA - The Sunday
School choir with voices from both
young and old opened the evening
on Thursday night. Following the
Easter Musical, refreshments were
enjoyed and the children delighted
in showing parents and friends
throughout the Sunday School.
The Easter Musical "Sacrifice of
Glory" was shown three nights and
was well attended each evening.
Many weeks of practise for thet
and choir produced the Easter mes-
sage portrayed through the eyes of
Peter.
The Youth Group will be having
an evening of games and fun on
Friday night this week, at Doug and
Henny Parker's home.
Tuesday, April 29 at the home of
Marlene Parker, the Secret Sisters
will be meeting. Along with a spe-
cial speaker, there will be a China
painting demonstration. All ladies
are welcome.
Rev. Bob Harris and his wife will
be ministering in the morning and
evening service on Sunday.
Exeter Legion elects
new executive members

EXETER - This Thursday, April
23, is the regular Branch meeting
of fire Exeter Legion at which time
there will be final nominations and
the election of the 1992-93 execu-
tive. All members are invited to at-
tend and participate.
President Dave Frayne and 1st V-
P Jim Merrylees attended the Dis-
trict C Convention ori Sunday,
April 11, at which time all the
chairpersons gave reports.
Some interesting aroas discussed
were widows of veterans who have
remarried may be entitled to have
chair pensions reinstated. This

Easter visitors
An Easter gathering was held
with Ken Baker Sr. last Saturday
and in attendance were Tony and
Sandra Regier, Chris, Heather and.
Jill, of Mount Clemens, Michigan,
Ken Baker Jr. and wife Carol, of
Goderich, Don, Sharon and Jamie
Baker, Gary, Sheona and Jeffrey
Baker, all of area, Marg Lawson,
Exeter, and Emma Schilbe, of Zu-
rich.
About 30 attended the annual
Janzen family Easter gathering,
held Sunday at Bill and Ellen Jan-
zen's in Leamington. Attending
from this area were Annie and An-
gie Zielman, Ruth and Jerry Zehr
Varna. by Joan Beieriing
and daughters, Debbie and Roger
Ward and daughters, all of Zanieh,
Erich and Kaethe Frieter, Erich Jr.
Frieter and wife Cheryl and family,
all of Dashwood and area Susie
(Zielman) Robson, husband Wayne
and family, of Essex, also attended.

A large crowd gathered at the
community centre on Saturday af-
ternoon to honour Leo Boyle on his
70th birthday. His seven daughters

with his three sisters.

centre euchre were leleon Pullman,
Mary Kooy, Lulu Culbert, Tbm
Emery, Joe Carter and Walter We-
ber. Next euchre will be April 27 at
8 p.m.

worship. Next Sunday the choir

of her parents and brother, the Hep-

Lucan Parkview seniors
LUCAN - The manthty seniors
social meeting at the Lions Park-
view Place included a pot luck sup-
per last week. The group reports a
good turnout for the event, which
later included several games of bin-
go.
The door prizes were won by El-
nora Reycraft and Marion Co-
chrane.
A birthday cake was made and
decorated for the seven residents
who have birthdays this month:

The seniors welcome Agnes Hot -
son into their midst and say they
hope she will be happy in her new
home. Welcomed back from the
south were Ray and Jerry Zinn.
The seniors were recently -pre-
sented with a cheque by MP Terry
Clifford on behalf of New Hori-
zons. The money will be going to-
ward new craft equipment and
equipment for a new shop at Park-
view Place.
