Beatrice Woods Exeter "The nicest Easter I had was when I was babysitting for Elsie Waghorn. She took me over to visit her rela- tives. We went in the buggy from the 12th line of Fuller- ton all the way to the base- line of Blanshard. I also re- member my father had warned me not to tell any- one that we had chickens in the incubator but I let it slip and got into trouble". Elizabeth Schroeder Exeter "I can remember one East- er, we were a Targe family and very poor. So it meant that we girls did not get new dresses. I can also remem- ber that by accident I tore the one fairly decent dress I had. That was a real calami- ty, because everyone wore new clothes. However, my mother mended it quite nice- ly and it was hardly notice- able. I will never forget that day because a new dress for Easter was imperative and here I had an old dress and mended at that." Mary Connelly Exeter "When the children were small, we'd always have an egg hunt because we would pretend the Easter Bunny had come to our house. Our family always had a large meal together - never missed". Cora Miner Exeter "I remember my parents used to run a hatchery and we always had to have the eggs set in the incubators so they would be ready for Easter." Charlie Merrytield Exeter "My dad was a traveller/ organizer at that time. Every time he came home at East- er we always looked forward to meeting him at the sta- tion, expecting something from the Bunny". Estrella FiNcbeiner Exeter "I remember we always col- oured eggs out of onion peelings which made the eggs turn many different col- ours. We also used to make pretzels every Easter be- cause the pretzels repre- sented the cross."
