EXETER - With just three starters returning to the lineup, it's going
to be tough for the South Huron District High School Panthers to repeat
as the Humn-Perth junior boys' soccer champions.
Last -spring, a defensive -minded Panther squad edged Stratford Cen-
tral 1-0 to win the title. Back to helleto.make it two. years .in a row are
Sean • vlcCan , Jim Dougall and Jeff Lingard.
Sivichay Sengkhounmany Ives the offensive backbone a year ago, but
he and his family have moved to London. Coaches Ray Lewis and Bill
Shore are hoping others can pick up the scoring slack. ,
"Trevor Taylor saw spot duty and they tied for most goals," said
Lewis. "Sean McCann is back and he can put the ball in the net."
In 1991, the juniors had a strong defence corps which was the
strength of the team. This year the defence doesn't seem to be as strong
but thereare more goal scorers. -
It's not out of the question for the Panthers to repeat as champs.
"I don't think it's impossible. At the start of the season 1 winnow
cones nedthan lam -now," said Lewis.
In goal, the Panthers will have Darren Kints who was the beolotta
year ago.
"He plays the way td like him to play, he's aggressive," said Lewis.
South . Huron soccer teams worked out in the very cold and windy
weather last wcek and will open their Huron -Perth Conference sched-
ules next week.
The junior and senior boys host Goderich on Monday while the girls
host Clinton on Thursday, April 16.
