Councillor Barb Jeffrey said she too felt it might be more ec- onomical to retain control of the consent procedure. Fisher said while the county planning depanment is having to maintain its staff, with less work to do with the recession, he said a search for work was probably not wise. He also said that with county taxes collected in Huron, the department should be able.to provide some basic level of ser- vice without resorting to user fees. Fisher asked council what comments they would like to forward to the planning depan- ment, and all agreed to reject the proposal to give the county con- trol over consents.
