CWL meet
MT. CARMEL - The Mt. Carmel
CWL monthly meeting was opened
with prayer with 71 members in at-
tendance. The February meeting
had been cancelled because of bad
weather.
The CWL ladies from Mt. Car-
mel, Exeter and Orand Bend took a
bus to Fun Night in Goderich and
all had an enjoyable time.
There is to be a day of reflection
at St. Peter's Church in St. Joseph's
Tuesday -March '24, -Mass .10 a.m.
The CWL Convention will be held
in, Simla on April 28, 29. Some la-
dies will.be auending.
The CWL ladies are helping to
serve dessert and refreshments on
April 5 for Recollection. Ladies are
asked if they could help quilt on
March 16 and 17 to get the quilt
ready for the bazaar which will be
November 7, 10 - 2 p.ni.
'Some of the ladies attended the
World Day of Prayer in Crediton.
Father Bagutw spoke on how we
can get ready for Lent. After the
meeting the group heard field work-
ers speak. They were very informa-
tive explaining the continuous need
for CWL.
Caven PCW
EXETER - The March 6 meeting
of Caven Presbyterian Church
Women opened with a reading by
president Edna Simmons
"Thoughts for Lent". The thence of
the service was "The Early Church"
with Lois Learn, -Margaret Strang,
Rev. C. Henderson and Hazel
Pryde taking part.
Beatrice Ersman gave a report on
the Presbyterial meeting at St. An-
drews Church, Stratford, where
Rev. Glen Davis was speaker. He
told of life in Japan today and the
ill treatment of Koreans living
there. Edna Simmons continued the
theme telling of the plight of the
Lubicon natives of Alberta on
whose land the Japanese have built
a large pulp and paper mill.
At the request of the Board of
Managers, the P.C.W. will assist
them with Church inventory. The
second Sunday in June has been se-
lected for Caven's outdoor church
service. Friendship and Service ,
committee will arrange for Easter
baskets to be sent to shut-ins.
A St. Patrick's lunch was served
by the group in charge, Margaret
Strang, Rev. C. Henderson and Ha-
zel Pryde.
