Datars and Schroeder lead team wins oig8 By Ron Dann ZURICH - Betty Da - tars, in the class four average (185-199) rolled a hot 1,223 five game pinfall in leading the Zurich 5 Pin Bowlers' Association Nation- al Classified ladies team to victory Sunday at the lanes. Joining Datars on the team will be Pat Love (154 and under) with 827, Donna Thiel (155 - 169) 846, Hilda Vanderhoek (170-184) 925 and Sandra Dickert (200 and up) 1,020. They now advance to the la- dies regional round March 29 at Zurich. Ken Schroeder, in the 170 and under average class, included a 302 single in his 1,049 five game total, leading the Zurich Association men's team of Jim Keller (171-185) with 947, Rob Vanderhoek (186- 200) 890, Bill Coleman (201-215) 1,061 and Gary Huston (216 and up) 1,168. They now advance to the men's regionals March 29 at Molesworth. Two Zurich Associa- tion coaches will be appointed. * * * * The first shift of the Black Tower Zurich 5 Pin Association Team Tournament begins Saturday, 7 p.m. at Town & Country lanes. The second Black tower shift will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday. Eleven teams, four Bluewater Association teams from Mount Forest and seven Zurich Associa- tion teams, will be viewing for the Black Tower Zurich 5 Pin Associa- tion title. The winning Black Tow- er team will then advance to the re- gional Black Tower rolloffs April 26 in a O.F.P.B.A. designated loca- tion. The top Black Tower team goes to the Provincial Black Tower Championships May 23 at Wel- land. * * * * The second Bluewater Associa- tion Labatt's Blue Light Open train- ing session stare Friday, 8 p.m. at Sports shorts Boxing bouts coming to Lucan LUCAN - Amateur boxing will be returning to the Lucan Comnw- nity Centre on Sunday, March 22 when the East London Boxing As- sociation and the Lucan Optimists present 10 bouts. Featured boxers from the East London Club, who will be taking on those from Livonia, Michigan, will be Jason Gnay the Canadian Intermediate Heavyweight Cham- pion and his brother Ontario Senior Heavyweight Champion, Bob. The Elginfield brothers will be joined by Shipka's Joe Keak. Action gets underway at 2 p.m. Bowlathon ZURICH - Local bowlers will be taking part in the Kids Help Phone Bowlathon on Sunday, March 22 at the Town and Country Bowling Lanes in Zurich. Kids Help Phone line is a nation wide service of the Canadian Chil- drens Foundation which provides youths between the ages of 5-19 with a bilingual anonymous helpful service. The Bank of Montreal is helping out with the bowlathon and sponsor sheets can be picked up at local branches or the Town and Country Lanes. Finalists EXETER - The Exeter Molting Hawks dropped the final game of the Lucan Classics Oldtimers Hockey Tournament on the week- end. Friday they opened with a 3-2 win over Pete's Sports. Ron Moore, Ken Bergmann and Randy Gilrrllan scored with Scott Burton, Murray Little, Brian Hodgins, Bob Parsons and Jack Chipchase assisting. Saturday the Molting Hawks tied Lambeth 1-1 on Ernie Ahrens goal set up by Moore and Terry Bourne. Gilfillan andscored in a 2-1 win over St. Parsons and Hodgins assisted. Sudbury will host the National Blue Light Open June 2 - Personalized bowling balls will be making a very strong appear- ance in the Blue Light Ontario Open and will probably help set new scoring records. The bowling balls are matched to the uniform size and weight selected by the bowler and are a definite advantage over house balls that are usually three to four different sizes and weights.
