contest
winners
GRAND BEND - The Winter
Carnival Committee in Grand Bend
chose its colouring contest and es-
say winners and presented them
with awards on Saturday at the vil-
lage's Big V Drug Store.
Winning the colouring contest
was Brittany Kadlecik, 6, with Ab-
bey Buregess, 7 in second, and
Jude Morgan, 8, in third.
Essay contest winners were Jessi-
ca Haddon, 10, in first, and Eliza-
beth Fitzgerald, 12, taking second.

ZURICH - A tasty Ash Wednes-
day dinner was served Wednesday
to 45_diners. Tammy Antaya wel-
-e i eed everyone and informed the
diners of upcoming events.
Antaya gave a reading on shop-
ping and a poem "The Old Stone
Well was given by Gertie Fleis-
chauer.
Six tables of progressive euchre
were enjoyed. Winners were as fol-
lows: High - Howard Finkbeiner;
2nd High - Frieda Moore; Lone
Hands - Annie Finkbeiner; Low -
Marion Becker.

SHIPKA - There will be another
euchre here tonight, March 11, at
Shipka Community Centre at 8
p.m.
Several from this area attended
the World Day of Prayer service,
held this year at Dashwood United
Church.
Jason Finkbeiner, spent the last
week of February at his home here
with parents Bill and Nancy and
sister Lori, on a winter break from
Sir Sanford- Fleming College,
where he is studying forestry.
Harold and Doreen Finkbeiner re-
turned home last week after a few
weeks holidays in the Pompano
Beach area of Florida.
Harold - and Lucille Vincent re-
turned home February 29, after a
month's holiday at Englewood,
Florida. They also visited their
daughter and son-in-law, Lori and
Kevin Brown, at Sarasota.
Sympathy is expressed in the
death of Lorne Miller, age 40, to
his wife Margaret and four young
children, also to his mother, Grace
Miller, and his five sisters.
Funeral service was held Sunday,
March 8, at Zion Lutheran church,
Dashwood. T. Harry Hoffman. Fu-
neral Home was in charge of ar-
rangements.

ward after the confirmation and
oommunion service. A humorous
skit took place with Janet Cowgrld
as oommealtawr, Grace Pym, San-
dra Rowe, Sharon Lynn and Kay
c.'unnington taking part.
Marjorie Johns read an address
and Bill Rohde presented Richard
and Sheila with a wall clock with a
nicely engraved plaque on it. Shau-
na Skinner presented Alexandra
with gifts, Ryan Parker presented
Lauchlan with gift. Both Richard
and Sheila replied and the many at-
tending wished them well in their
new home.

The March meeting of the
U.C.W. was held last Monday eve-
ning. June Stewart welcomed eve-
ryone and gave the call to worship
on Spring. The ladies sang, "As
come the Breath of Spring."
Marion Cann read the Scripture
Lesson, Luke 10:38-42 and Ro-
mans 12:3-8 and the Prayer of Ap-
proach. A reading "The Break" was
given by Rhoda Rohde. Anne Bray
and Marion Cann received the of-
fering with dedication by Rohde. A
reading "Complaint" by Anne Bray.
June, Rhoda and Marion gave a
Chapter from the Study Book.
"For Beauty of Prairies" was
sung and Rohde closed the worship
service with prayer.
President Judith Parker opened

with a poem "For the Task".
The usual business was dealt
with. The ladies were asked to
serve refreshment after the Odd
Fellows Church Service on April
26.
Church service
Rev. Charles Henderson was in
charge of the regular church service
on Sunday morning. The congrega-
tion sang "Jesus Loves Me" and
Rev. Henderson gave the children's
message "A Deaf and a Nearly
Blind Boy Team Up". He read the
Scripture Lesson Acts 13:1-5, 47-
49.
-The choir sang "To God Be the
Glory" accompanied by the organ-
ist Agnes Bray.
Rev. Henderson's sermon was en-
titled "Where Do Ministers Come
From" with the text taken from Ro-
mans 10:14.
The flowers in the Sanctuary
were placed there in loving memo-
ry of the late Ray Cottle who
passed away fast Sunday.

Westminster Hospital on the week-
end.

Frayne and Alice Parsons of Exet-

Donna VanAllen, Rachel, Tyler,

day with the corner's parents Floyd
and Margaret Stewart.

Lost and Found
CENTRALIA - On Wednesday
evening the Lost and Found Family
Night was privileged to have John
Robles from Fon Wayne, Indiana
share with them through song. John
has just finished making a new al -
hum and will be available in a few
weeks.
The Youth Group attended Youth
for Christ in Brucefrcld on Satur-
day night. Brian Orgervic from
Kitchener, gave his personal testi-
mony on how he has overcome al-
cohol through Jesus Christ. The Zu-
rich Mennonite Band and Choir
provided a message through song.
Rev. Stanley Hammond minis-
tered on Sunday morning and was
accompanied by Sharon Parker on
the piano as he played his violin.
The Bible Contest is now two
weeks old and the racc is now a
close one! Girls, you are no longer
in a big lead, and boys you definite-
ly came on strong last week. Bring
your Bible and a friend and join us!
The movie - Norman, Lives For-
ever will be shown on Friday,
March 27, at 7:(X). There is no
charge for the movie and refresh-
ments, just a freewill offering, with
all monies going to the building
fund. A good family movie!
