The guests in the last few months at the Craigwiel Day Centre have definitely been the first kind! Mary Mae Schwartzentruber, pastor of the Nairn Mennonite Church gave the Keenagers a de- lightful cameo of life in Zaire, through pictures and interesting items that are memoranda of her time spent in that country. Evelyn McNaughton's trip to San Francisco thrilled the group. This time there was the added mystery and intrigue of dark waters to add excitement to the day. Judge Marshman regaled them with some stories of his experience as a judge as he explained the workings of our legal system. He answered a lot of questions and roused so much interest the seniors have asked him for a return visit. Ida Regio came to the centre with the first showing of her art work, sculpting and gold designing. The seniors were highly impressed with her work and hope she shares the pleasure with others as well. This talent has all been exercised only in the lase seven of her retirement years. Donna MacCornjick and Cindy Ryskamp, U.W.O. B.Sc.N. students were snowed in on their first two scheduled visits but are more than making up for it in the pleasure they've given the group 'with their exercise program and illustrated talks on various subjects. One Monday, the group met at the South Lounge of the Apart- ments and were joined by many of the tenants there to be introduced to Alliance and Alarm Tech, two per- - sonal protection systems. Lifeline had also been invited, but maybe the weather kept them in London. These appliances can sure be peace of mind for people living P' alone and indeed for their families as well. Several Keenager have them and say all kinds of good things about them. In many cases they have also been life savers. On Valentine's Day everyone was in the spirit. The room was gaily decorated with red hearts, lace and flowers, as well as the shadows they had "caught" in the previous week. They sat down to a delicious roast beef dinner with cherry cheese cake . for desert. The carnations at each table added a special feeling to the day. Florence Noxell recuperated enough from her broken hip that She was able to be with them to cele- brate her 94th birthday. At the close of the day, the carnations were dis- tributed to go home with the seniors to remind us of the happy time they spent together. As for crafts, the red and white bear's quilt is in its frame with a few stitches in it, and patiently waiting for the thimble crowd. The Keenag- ers made printed posies and caught those shadows that leave lingering presence even after they've gone! In the last few months, several new people have joined the fun and warm companionship the Day Cen- tre offers, both in the Regular Pro- gram and our Alzheimers and Spe- cial Needs Program on Wednesdays. Give the ventre a adl if you'd like to join in or make use of the services. Transportation is available, so they're only a phone call away. \V! \' `'Atilt For Y011l' Income Tax Return? They sampled products, viewed displays, admired the chauf- feured limousine and made con- tact with various professionals, as 23 community businesses came together, once again, for the eighth annual Welcome Wag- on Bridal Party at the South Hu- ron Recreation Centre. The party was organized by local hostesses Cathy Seip and Doris Weigand. Upon registering, each bride- to-be was given a gift package filled vith wed tips, sample produLrs and certificates courtesy of the sponsors of the party, as well as a chance to win a door prize. Singer Dania Thurman opened the program in song. The audi- ence was entertained twice dur- ing the evening as she performed two beautiful renditions suitable for a wedding ceremony. Throughout the evening, Mas- ter of Ceremonies, Joanne Din- ney introduced each participating business, praising their quality merchandise and their personal and professional services. Then, from the sophistication of "tails" to the elegance of "pearls and lace", excitement mounted as the brides-to-be and their guests enjoyed a dynamic fashion show featuring several local models. The models dis- played beautiful bridal fashions by The Wedding Knot, and the very latest in co-ordinating for- mal wear from Bud Gowan. Fashions for the bridal trousseau and honeymoon were from Clothes Call. Country Flowers provided the bridal bouquets and the unique stage decorations. Many future brides and guests complimented the excellent fash- ion show involving local models. Organizers Weigand and Seip say the evening would not have been possible without the support of the 23 businesses from Exeter, London, Hensall, Grand Bend and Clinton. Each business also donated a door prize, as did the hosting Welcome Wagon. Who Says that Friday the 13th is unlucky Not Us!!
