new probe room.
W.G. Thompson
a growing tradition
HENSALL - In 1924, Wesley G. Thompson had the foresight to see that
Ontario agriculture would one day play a major role in Canadian grain
trade.
With a single grain elevator and feed mill, and a solid determination to
improve marketing and farm services to Ontario farmers, W.G. "Tommy"
Thompson opened the doors to what has become one of the province's
most prominent and progressive agri-businesses.
With its headquarters in Blenheim, the operation is still very much a
family oriented Canadian firm. Headed by president Wes Thompson, the
business is in its third generation of Thompsons.
W.G. Thompson and Sons Limited now operate 12 agri-business branch-
es throughout southwestern Ontario, and the Hensall plant is one of the
major contributors to the company's ongoing success.
Thompsons have a full line of seeds in white beans, soybeans, cereal
grains, forages and wheat at Hensall. Augusta,.Rebecca and Karena wheat
are still very popular.
In keeping with Thompson's growing tradition, over the past year Hen-
sall has enjoyed an expansion project which will undoubtedly, provide
even better service to area farmers. A new bean dryer has been added as
well as a spacious new facility making work easier.
The new 9.600 square foot office features a new glassed probe room
where farmers can bring crops in, enabling workers an overhead view to
probe trucks. Workers also now have the ability to weigh trucks in from
either above or below, again making work a little easier.
The facility also boasts a larger storage facility and an added meeting
room for farmers.
In addition, Thompson have recently expanded their impregnated ferti-
1 lizer facility by installing a new four -ton blender.
"I think what we're saying is that we are committed to agriculture over
the long haul," confirmed plant manager Dale Good. "Yields here last year
were great, and we're looking forward to a good spring."
Experience, integrity, service and good common sense --with -these quali-
fies, W.G. Thompson and Sons Limited has grown to become one of the
leading agri-businesses in Canada.
A proudly Canadian company, Thompsons arc moving into their seventh
decade of steady growth. They bring with them a strong team of loyal em-
ployees who may individually take credit for the company's success.
"Top people get top results"-- an old adage but one Tompson solidly
stands by.
As the company expands into various fields and markets, Thompsons
will continue to hold strong the honest, small-town devotion the founder
based his modest business on over 65 years ago.
The hard work and dedication of the succeeding generations will decide
the future. Showing signs of inherited enthusiasm and keen business
sense, the next age promises that W.G. Thompson and Sons Limited will
twaUtluc to beaviaadd wide Growing Tradition. -
